The story is so incredibly shallow. The main character is literally a walking cliche. I didn't care at any point about Stilwell, I didn't really care about any character. Harry Bosch this is definitely NOT.
The way Crane is caught in the end is so very dumb, I have a hard time believing that anyone would walk into a hotel bar and make those sort of statements in a public place.
The entire prosecution relies on a criminal turning witness in a manner which stretches all credibility.
And the ending, I dunno, it felt like the book just ended. As if he got to a certain point and got bored and just wanted to get it over with. What about Jaurez at the end? What happens the mayor?
The mayor character may have been the most laughable of all. The guy barely features in the book at all! But we're to believe he's expanded from a some underhand dealings to make a few quid to murder and kidnap? Organising someone to get arrested so they can murder someone in the jail
And buffalo killing aliens? Please stop.
I think this is the worst Connolly book I have read. It's like he is just going through the motions in this book, throw out another title with the Michael Connolly name on it to make a few quid.
