Technically they did get together at one point, but they weren’t endgame.
I wanted endgame.

Kara Thrace (AKA Starbuck) and Lee Adama (AKA Apollo) from Battlestar Galactica.

Robin Hood and Marian in Sherwood. IK most of the time they’re together, but they aren’t in this and it’s just SOOOOO sad! I feel like crying every time I pick it up.

This thread seems like it's just for me. When I was in my early teens, I read Greg Keyes's Children of the Changeling series, and I really liked Ghe and Hezhi. Until the end of the second book, I hoped they would end up together, but that didn't happen. Then, I spent a long time composing something like fanfiction in my mind where Ghe returned to life a second time, and he and Hezhi, who had grown a little by this time, lived happily ever after.
The series looks unfinished, andthere are only two books. So this circumstance really helped me create these stories until I outgrew such childish fantasies.
An even more peculiar thing was about The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams. The main characters in this series included Simon Snowfall, who was human, and Jiriki, who was a Sitha (a fictional race similar to elves or fairies).

I read this series when I was very young, as I did with Greg Keyes's books. Then, I spent a long time creating weird stories in my mind in which Simon's daughter or granddaughter fell in love with Jiriki. The Sithi's lifespan is much longer than that of humans, so by the time Simon had children and grandchildren, Jiriki would still be young and handsome. This means that Simon's hypothetical granddaughter could fall in love with him.

Then, after I had grown up, Tad Williams suddenly wrote another series of books about the same characters called Last King of Osten Ard. Simon had become an old king, and Jiriki remained young and handsome, just as I had imagined.
Even more, Simon had a princess granddaughter, but there was no romance between her and Jiriki because she was very, very young and the cruel author killed the poor Jiriki.
I don't know if this can be considered a pairing that never happened.
Also, I thought Hannah would fall in love with Bulkezu while reading Crown of Stars by Kate Elliott. But that didn't happen because Bulkezu was the villain. Initially, though, I thought he was a morally gray character or a potentially reformed villain or someone of that nature.

For me we have:

Michael and Liz (better than the movies)
Avery and Grayson (inheritance games)
Griffin and Kate (the break up pact)
Lia and Michael (the naturals)
Sloane and Aaron (the naturals)
Margo and Josh 😭😭😭 (to all the boys I’ve loved before)

And so many more

Uhhhh I don’t agree Michael just wants everything to be a game. To push his feelings down deep inside of him. But as agent sterling said “Michael and Lia are fine bc they learned to push feelings down instead of feeling them. Sloane sees numbers before people. Dean grew up ion household with no one to help him let his feelings out.”
Cassie is that person for dean, they bring out the love, hate, happiness, anger, and so many more feelings out of each other that Cassie and dean wouldn’t experience if Michael was with her. Also Michael just doesn’t do it for me. He says he’s not trusting but then he goes back to Lia again and again. I don’t really like her hot take.

But Grayson just needs a person. And while Jameson and Avery are together yk how many intimate scenes Grayson and Avery have?! I’m not talking full on s*x or even kissing, but like when Grayson was swimming and he stopped to talk to Avery and they shared several long moments of eye contact, or the fact that Grayson DIES INSIDE when Avery hurts?! He doesn’t even do that for his own brothers. . . I mean that’s top tier bf material right there. . .

grayson and avery is so real. i dnf'd after the 2nd book cus i knew they didnt end up tg 😭

He got with this B named Eve (she was Toby’s biological daughter) and the doppelgänger of Emily (hate that ho sm)

But Eve was evil so that thing ended. (He also still loves Avery….and let’s be real, he’s never going to stop……idc what happens in the future, they’re soulmates. And he’s the loml)

Then I’m pretty sure he starts something with a girl named Lyra (in the grandest game) but I’m not sure if they end up together cuz I haven’t read it yet.

(Also, I kinda don’t want him to be with anyone else……which sounds bad..but I still don’t want it. Sorry not sorry)

He loves Avery and Jameson and won’t break Jameson heart by taking Avery from him but will break his own just to keep both of them happy. He has a 1 book love interest who needs to die. I hate eve. But out of all the books he never gets a serious relationship with someone.

Also hot take I need 2 more books each told from 2 different povs. 1 with Libby and Nash, and another with Xander and max, like where did she go in heartbroken.

I wanted four to be alone foreeevvveeerrrrr (which sounds evil…..but it’s not….?)
And I want Gray to be alone too, bc……. Bc he and Avery are soulmates and since they can’t be together, (even tho there are INTENSE feelings, but Gray is too good of a brother to act on them) it makes me sad when he’s with other ppl….which is weird.
But whatever.
I’m weird, I accept it.

It’s not like they’re actually real, (even if I’m my fake world they are very real) So it can’t hurt them if we don’t want them to be with anybody. The books I’m reading now I gave a boy to the main character and kept the other for myself. We book girlies are just a different breed. Lol
