As we are in the last quarter of the year, how did that happen, time to start planning for next year. I think I am going to retire the Monthly Key Word Challenge so time for something new. What would you like to do? Inquiring minds want to know.

Rosemary | 759 comments Maybe something based on publication dates? This list https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... is roughly ordered by date, but with the most recent additions in extra posts at the end. If we divided the whole list into monthly chunks, we'd have about 110 books to pick from each month, starting with the newest ones and ending with the higher points for the older books. Is that too many?

I will look into it. Thanks for your suggestion. We will probably have voting of all the suggestions.

It's been awhile since we did a traveling one, Diane. Those used to be popular or we could do something by geographical and/or languages. I am not very good at thinking up challenges.

Amanda Dawn | 1688 comments I'll be around still next year to FINALLY start reading the French list books I ask for on the WL every year lol (If you folks are missing the French list I sent before just lemme know and I can resend).

But, for other folks as a general challenge, it could be fun to do a 'members favorite reads' based challenge. I loved it when we had that thread of "100 favorite books on the list" and a bunch of people posted theirs.

Maybe the group could have a lower threshold thread(maybe 10 favorite or noteworthy books so far) that people can post their 'faves' list on, and then the challenge could be to read a set # of books across other people's lists and review them. Maybe do bonus points for folks that read above the challenge number.

This could be fun for folks who have done most of the list (like me) in that it could still be fun to compile a list for other readers, and new folks and readers that are only a few books in can easily read from other people's favorites lists without needing to post their own. Maybe this could generate some fun discussions between the list posters and new readers of each book.

Claire | 18 comments Kristl, I’m interested in the french list:-)

Jenna | 222 comments I like the idea of around the world, although the list is so Anglo-centric that might not get us too far. Also time periods. Those could even be combined. I read French but I’m slower - it’s why I’m still only half way through musketeers even though it’s pretty easy vocabulary and such light fun, so I don’t know if I can do that monthly!
