A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving (637 pages)
Is there any interest in a Charles Dickens novel? I have read only Tale of Two Cities and A Christmas Carol.

Diane, you can nominate anything, as many as you want, we will vote on the list of nominations. So go for all you would like to read.

Mr Predictable would like to enter the following candidates:
The Betrothed (Manzoni)
Finnegans Wake (Joyce)
Gravity's Rainbow (Pynchon)
Melmoth the Wanderer (Maturin)
I nearly added one of the Mann bricks, but I wouldn't want to increase my impopularity...

I could probably support Oliver Twist if it gets nominated. It just makes the cut, I believe (608 pages, Penguin edition)

I don't have a very good history of accomplishing the quarterly reads, however I would like to suggest:Sometimes a Great Notion
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle
and I'm not opposed to Dickens.
I could support Oliver Twist and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. I would like to add Middlemarch. I know it has been a Quarterly Read but it was a long time ago and perhaps others have not read it either.
I will throw in Oliver Twist then. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is my favorite Murakami. Kristel I think you forgot to add Sometimes a Great Notion for Valerie.
Hi, I will try with these, even though I’m guessing most of you have read all of them already
Crime and Punishment
Anna Karenina
Americanah
The Name of the Rose
Name of the rose is a fun book, that would be a nice re-read! Two of mine are already on the list, wind up bird and Anna k. I will add Magic Mountain because I bought the new translation and am planning to reread next year anyway!
I'd be behind Sometimes A Great Notion. I have that one, and I don't have any others that fit the criteria.
My nominations are;
The Making of Americans - Stein (926 pgs)
Devils - Dostoevsky (769 pgs)
Ben Hur - Lew Wallace (620 pgs)

Don't forget to get your nominations in. The dead line is approaching. We will follow the same procedures this year as we have in the past.

It was a previous read. I think you can nominate it but I will check the rules for inclusion and if you can’t I will let you know.

Thanks Kristel -- I was wondering about that.

I can't see that there are any exclusions of past books so I added Underworld to list of nominated books.
