After Ragnarok: Godless age. Has anyone here read it? how did it land for you?

I saw an ad over the weekend and grabbed a free edition on promo, clicked out of curiosity… and kept going. It’s shelved as dark fantasy, but parts read like straight adventure. Some bits get a little gruesome, but not really gory, imo.

I read it and it felt like an interesting whole. Seems like a new indie book... I haven’t found much info on it, but it kind of stuck with me.

The setup: norse gods (Odin, Loki, Thor) are gone, the world is cracked, mystery lingers over everything. I especially liked the little folklore shards. It built the world well. In the end I had a good time with book.

I haven’t read a lot of indie fantasy. Maybe that’s why this hit now, even in this ai slob era… I started this discussion, as I couldn’t find much about the book. Has anyone read it?

What worked for me

- worldbuilding… “the gods are gone” gives everything a hollow echo i liked. the cultures, religions, and different regions felt strong
- vibes… quiet mysteries, gritty travel, those folklore fragments
- pace… short stretches that keep you turning pages
- some cool action scenes

What didn’t land as well

- a couple norse lore dumps felt dense
- some storylines felt a bit too "Concidence"
- the middle slowed down for me

Anyone up for sharing their thoughts?
