So we all know that when we write a book or even read one - it is important that we develop all of our characters to a certain extent. For instance if you only develop the main character and the friends - you are leaving many other characters undeveloped. If you are planning on developing them later then fine, but if not, consider that when reading it; it may confuse the reader because they are trying to figure out the other characters as well as the plot and what's happening - but as the author we should be making it easy for them to follow along with our story.

Not confusing the hell out of the poor reader, developing a character could be something as simple as giving them a unique personality - or having them dress a certain way. All these things help the readers to picture what the character looks like, how they act and what they are going to do.

very good point. This is the reason most of my characters start off young so that you understand why they are the way they are in their adult life.

Good way to help people understand your characters - something else you could play around with would be to have flashbacks. So the character would be an adult but having flashbacks to their earlier days. Something else to spice up people's stories.
