Play Book Tag discussion

A mysterious man, swathed in bandages, appears at an inn during a snowstorm and takes a room. Taking over a private sitting room, he proceeds to set up his chemical experiments and keeps the landlady and other people at bay by his calculated rudeness. Slowly life, along with the bandages, starts to unravel and chaos follows.

I knew the story and I've seen bits of a couple of film versions but I had no idea how funny this is and what a horrible person the invisible man is! I listened to an audio version and the first part of the book seems almost slapstick with the invisible man causing trouble everywhere he goes. I was quite prepared to feel sorry for him but he was so unpleasant and, later on vicious, that I found myself rooting for the people trying to catch him!
