Post your nominees in this thread for the December 2025 Book of the Month.

We’ll do two polls, and have two selections for BOTM. I have two separate themes:
- TOP 10: A book you think is in the top 10, that you want to read/re-read.
- RECENT: A techno-thriller published in the last 5 years.

All nominees:
- must be a techno-thriller
- must not be your own book
- must have at least 1,000 ratings, or be by a well-known author defined as having prior techno-thriller books with 100,000+ ratings.

I’ll go to a poll as soon as one of the themes has enough nominations. We’ll just do one poll on one category/theme at a time, not two at the same time. Nominees are taken first-come first-serve. If more than 5 people nominate, I take the first book (that fits the criteria) from the first five people. If less than 5 people nominate, I take the second nominee from the first person, and so on. About half the time, no one else nominates a book, so all nominees ended up being mine. I prefer it to be a group effort. Please feel free to suggest books for the group. Please identify which theme or category you are nominating the book for, if it isn’t obvious from the title.

Do not just vote for something because you've already read it and liked it.
Sometimes I’ll nominate books I’ve already read, but the vote is different.
Vote only for the book you actually want to read or re-read for the month.
We want actual participation ... people reading the books and discussing. If you vote for it ... we expect that you're going to read it, or at least start it, and perhaps comment in the discussion. If you just want to vote for favorites, then go vote on one of the Listopia book lists instead.

TOP 10 THEME:

Contact by Carl Sagan (1985)
Contact by Carl Sagan Contact by Carl Sagan Contact by Carl Sagan Contacto by Carl Sagan Contact by Carl Sagan Contact by Carl Sagan Carl Sagan

Might be interesting to juxtapose with Project Hail Mary. Both of these are in my top 5. It's been a few decades, and I'd like to re-read, since I just re-read Project Hail Mary, and see if I feel strongly about which one is better.

Devolution: A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacre by Max Brooks (2020)
Devolution A Firsthand Account of the Rainier Sasquatch Massacre by Max Brooks Max Brooks

Met a guy that said this was his favorite from Max Brooks. Is this a valid technothriller? There is science, natural phenomena, … apocalypse (not global though). Is this just for amusement? Maybe.

The poll is at the bottom of the main page, or click on the polls link. Looks like Contact has a strong lead.
