Okay, this is the one I chose to start with. I'm doing a few chapters each day until it's done and going to the next magical book. Hoping this helps me keep track of my life.

I finished this one over the weekend. . .

I've tried to hold off reviewing it and reading other reviews and POV trying to like it more!

I feel like the grumpiest reader this month and I hate being that buddy that sucks to read with because they aren't enjoying it. . .

I really liked the beginning of this one

it was so intriguing, this young girl who arrived, the main character discovering her and then the neighbor that sells eggs - and his odd reaction when he just . . .left.
I loved their campfire marshmallows and little moments.

but somewhere around half way, when the shooting started and the main character started pushing her love interest to be more than he was - pushing him to be better, I just completely checked out.

I was so glad I had this as an audio so I could listen to it while I did errands and thins around the house. (hide spoiler)]

I think these magic realism ones - unless they are horror - just don't work for me. I'm so sorry I'm struggling with all these this month!

Chapter 14. I recently finished Nothing to See Here and there are definitely some commonalities. A child in need, found family, and it all tied together with magical realism.

Well, it was pretty quiet for quite a while and I had a hard time sticking with it. But then all of a sudden it got suspenseful. I ended up sticking with it at that point and finished it just before I went to bed last night.

I felt like the last bit was pretty rushed -- like if you sneezed you'd miss some of it. I almost feel like I want to relisten to the last part in case I missed some of the details.
