Just finished my re-read of this one.

As last time, it took me a little while to get into the rhythm of the writing. It's almost stream-of-conciousness in the way it meanders around.

But it's such a beautiful book.

I know it's tagged as coming-of-age a lot because of the young protagonists, but I actually feel this is more about looking back on lost youth and innocence than it is a YA type story.

I'm a little over halfway through. And it did take a bit to get into the book, I'm glad I'm listening to an audio, I'm guessing it would of been harder to get with it as a physical book.

And I agree with you Sammy, it does seem more of a look back than coming of age. But it's useful for that coming of age task in wheels, so not complaining :P

Yes, I do think it takes a little while to get into the narrative voice of this one, but once you get into the rhythm, as it were, I think it's just beautiful. I've read it in print only, but I bet it would make a lovely audio.
