Alanna walks in, her knife ready for an animal to jump out at her

Birch was crouched over under a beach tree. It had a long root coming off of the side, and a low lying branch over it. Perfect for snarling. He had been walking around the boarder of the hunting area all day setting up twine snares to catch small game. He tied a clove hitch on the branch, and followed with a two half hitches for the snare. After marking his location on a map, he continued on his way.

Alanna heard footsteps and blindly threw her knife and it trimmed his elbow. She runs over thinking she had killed an animal, for her first time. But she gasped seeing a person "Sorry, sorry!"

"Jeez. Didn't anyone teach you hunting safety?" He asked her frustrated as he reached down for a leaf, wiped it off, and tied it around his arm with his large spool of twine.

Alanna took out a piece of cloth and dabbed his elbow "I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were a person, and I got excited because I've never killed an animal before"

"You sure, you throw a knife too well for someone unpracticed." He said pulling the knife out of a nearby sugar maple tree and handing it to her. It was covered in sap at the tip.

Alanna took the knife and looked at him raising an eyebrow "Are you being sarcastic 'cause I cant really tell if you are" she said giving him a death glare

"No, I'm being serious." He said still with his emotionless face. "It takes practice just to be able to stick one of those in a peace of wood, let alone kill something."

Alanna sighs "I just don't have good aim. That's the problem. If I was aiming at the tree you would've been dead by now"

"Don't threaten me with a good time." He responded with sarcasm. He found a set of tidbit tracks in the mud, leading through a rhododendron bush. He set up another snare there and marked it on the map.

She sighs and says "So, you from the Capitol. Maybe you are, most people from there are jerks but you look pretty normal. I'm District 6. One of the less agknowledged districts"

"Well we're neighbors. I'm from 7. We're pretty boring, but sure know our trees." He said as he continued walking along. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a skunk staring right at him. It could possibly be rabid, seeing as they were normally nocturnal. He held his hand out slowly and pointed at it, hoping she got the message.

Alanna looked at him confused and walked by the skunk not getting the message. It sprayed her and it ran and she fell on her butt with a scrunched up face coughing

He sighed and kept walking. He was taking a fondness to the naiveness of this girl. It had s certain charm to it. Oh well, getting blasted like that enough times will teach her to be observant.

She got up and went after him grabbing her knife, still coughing. "Okay, now I get why you were pointing. Wow, I'm stupid" she sighed seeing a small water area up ahead

"Yes, but now you're a little less stupid, and a lot more odorous." He commented. "I'm going to get a better view, be right back."he said as he pulled himself into a tree branch and quickly climbed up the tree.

She nods and looks at the tree next to his and starts climbing up the tall tree. She finally gets to the top and there is a small pond below her

Bitch looked up at the sun, which was about an hour from setting, and oriented his map accordingly. He then noticed that she had climbed up as well. He stuffed his map into his backpack, which also had a small tarp, several lengths of rope, a flint and steel, a cantons of water, and some rations in it.

Alanna looks down at the water in delight and stood up shakily on the tree branch. She looks over at him and pulls her blonde hair into a pony tail

He started to climb down, trying to decide if he should try to head back to the district, or camp out here for the night. If he moved fast, he might make it back a few minutes after dark, but was it worth the risk. Ugh, he was terrible at making trivial decisions like this.

Alanna jumped into the pond beneath her and felt the sting of cold water making a giant splash.

"Well that's just great." He thought aloud. The best choice would probably stay here with her and make sure she didn't get serious hypothermia. Once the sun dropped, it would get much colder. Being wet would just make things worse.

Alanna swam around trying to get the stench off. She yelled out to him "Um, District 7 kid. What's it take to take the smell off" she said

"More than pond water that's for sure." He called back. "You're going to need soap or something, and even that doesn't remove it fully. It'll wear off with time. Meanwhile, you've gotten yourself soaking wet right before it gets night time. If the temperature drops too much, you could go into shock." He continued to get the tarp out of the bag and tie it off to a couple tree trunks and a log.

Alanna cringes at her split second decision "I'm sorry. It was a stupid idea. I thought it was brave and smart."

"Whatever. Just get out of the water and try to dry off. I'll get a fire going." He said as he pulled dead needles off of a western hemlock.

Alanna nods and goes out of the water, soaked and starts shivering immediently, her teeth chattering

((Do you think that the RP is lacking in direction or conflict?))

He took the needles and put them in a small pile. Then he took larger twigs and made a teepee shape around it. Finally he took out the flint and steel and flashed sparks on it until it caught fire. Birch blew on it generally to give it some more oxygen, and the embers grew larger.

Alanna sat by him, shaking intensly. Her blue eyes turned colder than the lake. She looks at him and says "I never got your name you know. I'm Alanna"

((I'll save that as a plan B. We don't want too much happening at once.))

He went deeper into the woods and came back with larger sticks, and formed a pile next to the fire. Unsatisfied he went and got more sticks. The sun began to set over the pond. He sat next to her and answered her question. "My name is Birch."

She nods "Like the tree" she mumbles, hugging herself shivering. She looked over at the sun with a smile

"Yes like the tree." He responded. "Are you holding up ok with being cold and all. Your clothes still wet?" He asked awkwardly.

Alanna nods shaking with coldness and sneezed "Yeah, they're still wet"

He wished there was something he could do to help it, but the fire was the best he had. He wasn't wearing a coat or anything, nor did he have a blanket to wrap her in.

Alanna shivered again and said to him awkwardly "C-Can I lay with you. Body heat helps"

"What, no. That's actually not that bad of an idea. Never mind." He said scooting closer to her. "Wait hang on. How old are you?" He asked.

"I'm f-fifteen" she said sneezing again softly. She shovers moving in closer shaking all over.

"Ok good. 16" he responded. Birch had never really been intimate like this with anyone besides his parents before, but if it was life or death he was willing. He awkwardly scooted up to her and put an arm around her.

Alanna shivered again at coldness and his touch. She hugs herself and then curls up against him

God were her clothes wet. He was getting cold just being near her. He put some more sticks on the fire to make it a little hotter and scooted with her closer to it.

Alanna sneezes again shivering. "Birch" she mumbled "I'm r-really c-cold" she said shivering in his arms

"I don't know what to tell you. Live and learn I guess." He said to her concerned. "Having wet clothes on right now is just about the worse thing you can do." He said.

Alanna cried out feeling her arms go numb "But gb I don't have any extra clothes!" She says to him tears streaming down her cheeks

"And I didn't bring any either. I'm sorry." He said holding her tighter. He really wished there was more he could do.

Alanna whimpered and snuggled onto his shirt, crying not wanting him to see her crying

He noticed she was crying, but for her sake he ignored it. He thought about other ways to warm her up. The tarp wouldn't help any, and would keep the water from evaporating off of her. The visibility was minimum outside of their fire.

Alanna looked up at him "I'm sorry" she said then sneezed "That you" she sneezes "Have to be forced" she sneezes "To do this for me"

"Trust me it's fine. I don't mind helping people out." He put his hand on her forehead and realized it was extremely low. He sighed, not wanting it to come to this. "Alanna. Go into the woods and take your clothes off. Then come back wearing the tarp. Leave your undergarments on. If you continue on like this, it could cause permanent damage to your system." He said in a strictly medical way.

Alanna nods shaking and runs into the woods and strips to her undergarmets and comes back with the tarp wrapped around her. She blushes and looks down at her feet. She shivers and sits by him

"I'm sorry, but you should feel a lot warmer now." he said, keeping his distance in case she wasn't comfortable with sitting with him.
