In the prologue, Noah and Josie are out in the middle of nowhere when he hits a deer and completely totals the car. With no phone service, Noah sets out to go get help. When a woman in a truck stops at the wreck and convinces Josie to return with her to her house. Did you bite and think that either something was going to happen to either Josie or Noah? Were you surprised when the story begins three months later and they’re just fine?

Of course, I thought it was more than just a random act of kindness. Regan has conditioned us to expect that the prologue is so much more. When the story starts with the wedding prep, I was caught up in that and didn't give the prologue another thought until after the girl's body is found and Josie recognizes her.
