Backstory: when he was 10 his mom died in a car crash, and his dad started dating Jenifer a year later (Dan and Jen were high school sweetheart who reconnected after the car crash) and they got married, Gabe still really misses his mom and he feels kind of weird seeing his dad kissing Jen like he used to kiss Gabeβs mom, but Jen never tried to replace Gabeβs mom sheβs just always there for him and Lila and Gabe and Lila appreciate that
