Play Book Tag discussion

I am really enjoying this mystery/legal thriller series. Andy Carpenter is a self-confessed "wise-ass" with a heart of gold that leads him to taking on some unexpected cases. In this book, he is moping around after the departure of the love of his life, Laurie. She has gone back to small-town Wisconsin to be police chief and spend time with her extended family. But one day, he sees her on cable TV talking about a double murder. Then she calls and asks him to defend the very person she arrested. Things get complicated when a nearby town turns out to be the center of a cult.

As a Wisconsin resident, I was amused by Andy's appraisals of the state - why is there cheese in everything, what the heck is a brat, but at least there is plenty of beer. Luckily for the reader, much of Andy's team ends up joining him - the strong but silent Marcus, the tech-savvy Kevin, and of course his faitful companion, Tara, the best golden retriever in the world.
