Evangeline Guevarra What is your favourite Dickens novel? For me, I love Great Expectations, but I’m reading A Tale Of Two Cities and it’s amazing!

Emmeline | 18 comments My favourite has historically been Our Mutual Friend, but I'm not sure I'd have the endurance to read it these days.

Second place goes to A Christmas Carol, for nostalgia and perfect simplicity.

Trev | 635 comments Here is my list of Dickens novels ranked in order of preference. Some are so close I almost made them equal but decided in the end to produce a ranked list. I haven’t included the novellas because I have only read a couple of them. The top five are the ones I wouldn’t hesitate to read again.

1. Bleak House
2. Our Mutual Friend
3. Great Expectations
4. Little Dorrit
5. A Tale of Two Cities

6. David Copperfield
7. Nicholas Nickleby
8. Dombey And Son
9. The Old Curiosity Shop
10. The Mystery of Edwin Drood
11. Oliver Twist
12. Hard Times
13. A Christmas Carol
14. Barnaby Rudge
15. Martin Chuzzlewit

Not read
Pickwick Papers
No Thoroughfare

Bleak House is my favourite Dickens as well, closely folowed by Our Mutual Friend.

Lindenblatt | 89 comments Another vote for Bleak House 😊

With David Copperfield and A Tale of Two Cities coming in as second and third, respectively.

Looking forward to reading Our Mutual Friend in 2026.
