Hello and Happy Thanksgiving weekend for everyone in the US. I was away with my husband and we ate in a (hotel) restaurant for the first time ever for Thanksgiving. Four days of early season skiing and our bodies are pretty used up. I hope you all had (and may continue to have) a great holiday weekend.

My only finishes are the Hidden Legacy series. I finished Wildfire, book 3, and then went into the novella Diamond Fire book 3.5. That is the transition from the Nevada-focused storyline to the Catalina-focused storyline in books 4-6. Although I'm loving these I think that might be a good place to pause and read other things.

I'm still reading (as in, I didn't make any progress like expected) on The Wealth Ladder: Proven Strategies for Every Step of Your Financial Life. It just wasn't calling to me on the trip. It is a short book so I'm sure I'll finish it soon.

I'm also reading an Amazon First Reads choice As Long as You're Mine. It hasn't yet fully pulled me in. It is another timeline jumping story, not my favorite style but I deal with it when the story is good.

QOTW:
We are at week 48. How are you doing against your reading goals or challenges for the year?

I set a reading goal of 100 books, which by GR counts, includes short stories. For me that was double last year's goal. But knowing that I often get 4-5 short stories completed on each cross-country flight, that really jumps my numbers. I am at 93 as of today. I should be able to get just over my 100 by the end of the year.

I am a leisurely challenge participant. I usually collect several books before going to StoryGraph and seeing where they fit in the challenge. I definitely fit them into a prompt retroactively rather than choosing them for the prompt. I also double or triple dip and count a book against any prompt that it fits. But they are just for fun for anyone to do what works best for them.

Rebecca | 319 comments A three-year-old liked my cranberry sauce, so that's my Thanksgiving win.

Stealing from Wizards Volume 4: Arson - The final book in the series, which may have been my least favorite but did wrap things up OK. There were baked goods and dragons.

The 39 Steps - I'm not the biggest fan of thrillers, but this one is rather foundational to the genre, so I thought I should read it. It does abound with coincidences, but the protagonist was likeable, and it moved entertainingly along. I appreciated the dedication, in which he basically said, "I was sick and read all the ridiculous books, so I wrote one."

QOTW: Still n/a for me.
