I recommend Six Easy pieces by Richard Feynman. It is written by one of the most famous 20th century physicists. Physics is known for being notoriously difficult. Anyone who wants to understand the basic building blocks of physics and their relation to other disciplines should start with this book. Six Easy Pieces: Essentials of Physics By Its Most Brilliant Teacher
There is a part two this series by Richard Feynman entitled six not so easy pieces. Considerably more difficult than the previous book, in this book Feynman takes the reader on a quest to understand Einsteins famous theory of relativity. Warning, Feynman does not shy away from using mathematical formulas in this book. Six Not-So-Easy Pieces: Einstein's Relativity, Symmetry, and Space-Time
Feynman's two autobiographical works are also great. Lots of fun, and he sneaks in a bit of physics as well.
yes, strongly recommend those. he was such an eccentric man with very unique views on almost every topic.
Next I would like to recommend Physics for Future Presidents. This is an excellent very fast read on the problems that we must and will face in the 21st century. From the problem of nuclear weapons and nuclear energy, to solar power and fossil fuels, global warming this is a book that everyone must read! Many people know only what the media tells them. Most of these problems are very real with some possible solutions on the horizon. Physics for Future Presidents: The Science Behind the Headlines
