The Catholic Book Club discussion

3. As a group we have read Come Rack! Come Rope (this may have been before we moved to Goodreads as I can't find the discussion) and By What Authority? (March 2022), the other two books in Benson's loose trilogy on the English "reformation." We've also read Lord of the World (March 2017). Next month we will read Oddsfish!. What other books by Benson have you read? How does The King's Achievement compare with the other Benson books you have read?

We have also read in the club An Average Man, a novel about Benson's own time.

The order of the tetralogy of historical novels about the 16th. century is this:

2. The Queen's Tragedy: Mary Tudor
3. Come Rack! Come Rope!: Benson's Powerful and Moving Tale of Catholic Martyrs and Sacred Sacrifice: Elizabeth I
4. By What Authority?: Benson's Powerful Tale of Catholic Faith and Persecution in Tudor England: Elizabeth I

Then we have Oddsfish!, about the 17th. century, and Lord of the World, about the 21st. century.

I have also read Paradoxes of Catholicism, an essay that has been several times in the voting list, and will come back soon.
