I stumbled upon this book when it was free, The Trials of Max Q by Derek Ciccone. I have been pleasantly surprise. Good read so far.

Hi Linda,I just got finished watching Bosch on Amazon. It is based on Michael Connelly's character. He is an Executive Producer.
John Connolly does not write legal thrillers but Charlie Parker is an ex-police detective turned PI. Just what I am currently reading. Gray Mountain by John Grisham was a legal thriller and I do hope he writes more on the Samantha Kofer character. Her down grade from Wall Street lawyer to small town lawyer was a great read. I really enjoyed her and hope to see more of her.
The latest in the historical mystery series by Cassandra Clark, The Dragon of Handale.Ian McEwan's The Children Act is a wee different legal thriller, but I enjoyed it.
Hi Renee,I am interested to know more about Ian McEwan's The Children Act. What makes it a different legal thriller?
Skye wrote: "I knew his books were not legal thrillers. Charlie Parker sounds like a great character."He is. The topic is a bit off kilter and sometimes alittle brutal but it's modern day good battles evil. And he has these 2 best friends that are just so polar opposite they are great. I don't usually read a series 1 right after the other, 2 books is usually my limit, but these have kept my interest. I'm on book#6.

It involved family law in the UK. There was a whole different set of games played. The story is from the judge's point of view. She is childless but has her own set of problems at home at the moment. She must make these life-shaping decisions based on ... what? And of course, she gets a smidge more involved than is healthy.
Kathleen wrote: "I am reading Greg Iles Natchez Burning. Awesome book."I love Greg Iles. Just an awesome writer. I have read all of his books!
Kelly wrote: "I too love agree Iles. My favourite is Mortal Fear"Each of his books has been so different but I have loved every single one. He had a serious car accident, I believe which slowed down his writing.
Hi Mellisa and Kelly,I just did a little research on Greg Iles accident. It occurred in 2011. He was broadsided by a pick-up truck doing 70 mph and suffered almost all of his ribs broken, shattered his left foot, broke his pelvis in 4 places and his right leg was so damaged, they had to amputated it below the knee. Crazy
I remember that it was very serious but did not know it was that awful. Sure would have impacted anybody's life!
Skye, You will be so happy you found his books. I was enthralled from the first one that I stumbled upon at the library. Have not missed one since. It matters not at all which one you read first but the early ones set the hook in me.
I'm feeling bereft after finishing the latest of Maisie Dobbs series. And I'm in a book malaise: you know right after a couple of really good reads and nothing seems interesting.
Last night I started Forty Acres, though and that's pulling me out of the malaise. So far, it is pretty great suspense, with a large side dish of food for thought.
Skye, Nope. I read and loved Turning Angel, True Evil and Blood Memory as well as The Quiet Game and loved each of them. More thriller than courtroom drama. Should be available in the library or on Kindle.
Let me know if you do; that can be upsetting, on the other hand, you may need to take a break and do something else.
Recently started reading Lisa Gardner's Tessa Leoni series. Currently reading Touch & Go, #2 in the series. I'm ashamed to admit that I had never read any of Lisa's books previously. Not sure why, but I'm enjoying her writing so far.

Don't feel bad, I also haven't read any of Lisa Gardner's books. Let me know how you like it after you are finished.
I began with her very first novel; I think The Second Victim and then just read each book as it was launched.

I'd say it's worth checking out from the library. Now, some stuff was a tad unbelievable, but she writes in such a way that you think 'well, maybe that COULD happen'.
I don't know about Gardner's early work with the Detective DD Warren character (who is also in the Tessa series), but so far DD's one of those characters you either love or hate. But I like Tessa.
Christie wrote: "Have ordered 'The Quiet Game' by Greg Illes from local library."I've not read any of his books, but just checked him out....looks interesting. What author would you say his writing closely resembles? How many of his books have you read? Will add him to the list. Thanks!

One of my favorite writers:)
This will be the first Greg Illes book I have read. Up to now I have generally read Crime Fiction, mainly Scottish, English and Nordic so this group is a bit of a departure for me but it is good to discover a whole lot of new authors
I'm currently reading 3 books. 172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad, Feed by Mira Grant, and Dead Woods by Maria C. Poets. Not getting all the hype behind the Feed series so far. Going a little slow for me. Hopefully it gets better. Really liking the other two.
Currently reading Gray Mountain, and I also picked-up Every Fifteen Minutes, which I am intrigued by.
I'm read a Lisa Gardner thriller Catch Me
. It's a D.D. Warren novel and the first in this series for me.
