the bugginess definitely seems to be flaring up again lately, with deleted threads and new bugs...

It's terrible recently!

Maybe the website is reacting to the news about DMs disappearing, and boycotting service.

Could also be a higher load. Seems like that happens this time of the year and into the first half of January as people rush to finish their reading goals and then setting new ones.

I started today. Made it 2.5 chapters before I got interrupted. It's just nice being back with these characters. I didn't realize I was wanting something cozy until I started listening.

Through Ch 14 (view spoiler)[Gramps' introduction to everyone was very sweet. I'm really glad Jin and Meimei put him in his place though. I both do and don't hope that Big D actually goes and trains with the old guy. It seems that the bunny might need to go with too, if it happens. I suspect that Gramps could learn a thing or two if he stuck around the farm for a bit.

Through Ch 29. This is going too fast. I realized sometime yesterday that this one is about half the length of the last book and tried to slow down. It didn't work lol (view spoiler)[I am loving this slice-of-life goodness. It seems to be a transition book as most are setting to head out on journeys soon. Yin becoming a human was a surprise. I didn't think the bunny would want that. The next book is going to go all over the place, literally, if we follow every single character's travels. (hide spoiler)]

I finished. This was also satisfying if too short! (view spoiler)[What a melancholy, if touching, ending. It was a cute love story for Mei Mei's parents though the disaster the village suffered was terrible. I do like how it wasn't a regular plague. Being followed by a famine was horrible luck. The mom saved everyone left with her sacrifice and no one knows.

There is plenty of future set up. Cultivator life is going to come crashing back to Jin no matter how he tries to avoid it.

I think the cast may be growing too large as the story's scope grows. Travis Baldree is starting to recycle character voices. I have to pay attention to who is speaking a bit more now.

My favorite thing about the series is the slice-of-life of it all so I hope that expanding scope can stay in balance some how. (hide spoiler)]

Read this at work this morning... agree it's a transition book, and can see why it's shorter... makes sense to end where it did...

Loved the culmination of the Shen Yu plotline... it did NOT disappoint... the epilogues and side stories were great, too...

This one didn't have any parts that dragged, like book 4 did, with the backstory nodule that wants to make someone an Emperor...

I read this last week and really enjoyed it. Agree with y'all that this was a really solid entry in the series--and the epilogues were a mix of melancholy and satisfying... (view spoiler)[the bandits getting a smackdown was my favorite...

I also thought it was interesting how much of Jin's ghost we got, with his "grandpa" showing up... I feel like that hadn't been touched on as much up to now... and Grandpa was pretty amusing. Big D & co now off to pursue the path of Cultivators, Fa-ram style... (hide spoiler)]
