I've only read Chapter 1 and I'm sitting here with a big grin on my face by the time I get to the end of it. This looks like it's going to be a fun ride.

That sounds promising! Maybe I'll switch books to that one since I could use some smily sunshine today! Will start it as soon as I get back from the dentist in a bit!

I do like Will Watt as a narrator. Been a while since I've listened to him. Probably last time being in an Amy Daws book.

I agree! It's not the kind where he's being a man child who needs to deal with his issues in a healthier way. That kind has been getting on my last nerves lately.

Yeah... I was impatient and bought it a couple weeks ago. But come back and comment once you get it!! I'm sure you'll have a challenge or two going that you can use it for!

yes, 100% agree!! And his inner monologue isn't ticking me off (like many have been lately).

I'm now at 39%, which for me is at the end of chapter 13 and beginning of 14. (view spoiler)[After reading the first chapter I was expecting more of that banter throughout the book and there has been some, but it has taken bit of an emotional turn.

Nolan is disgruntled because he's ready to move on from this existence and he's hoping once he figures out what Harriet's hiding after visiting her past, he can do so. Knowing that I understood his grumpiness, but hat grumpiness took a turn to cruelty when it was completely unnecessary.

Harriet has basically been kicked to the curb by the people who are supposed to love her. Her mother treats her like crap or indifference, and something happened between her and her sister, who was her bestie, which hasn't been revealed yet. So instead of the completely confident woman I thought she was going to be, she's morphed into a people pleaser, she absolutely fits the moniker Helpful Hannah.

Don't worry, he apologizes, and I forgave him, but he better not do it again.

They had a moment in a closet after one of their "trips" and then he dreamed about her and that almost turned spicy, but him dreaming about her at all was monumental for him.

I had already decided that they were connected in some way yet to be revealed, but them going back to his past solidified that thought.

This may be wishful thinking, but I feel like maybe her mother isn't her mother or something is off about her parents in the biological sense. At least I hope it is, because I just don't understand how a mother (and father) could be so cruel to their own child. I know it happens but, in this case, I want there to be an excuse besides she just a b*tch.

I also hope that Harriet finally stands up for herself when it comes to that heifer. (hide spoiler)]

I'm a bit further, just finished ch 25 (so 68%), but my comments are based on where you are up to. (view spoiler)[I was kind of sad at his outburst. Yes he felt bad about it, but not enough to do anything about it fast enough IMO. Soooo... I switched books for a little while . LOL

It hurts to see how much she has been squashed down in her lifetime. Your theory is interesting. Sadly though, sometimes families are just jerks (had a different word in mind, but I'm behaving). Will be curious to see if there is some merit to that.

And I agree with the feeling that they are somehow connected. How though, I didn't know then... and still am only guessing at now. (hide spoiler)]

Ugh. Now ch 26 has me more upset!!! Ugh. Her mom.

Ok, I finished.

I'm simply say... I was thinking I would land at a 3.5. But, from the "waiting room" on, it pushed it to a solid 4 for me.

Much sweeter than I typically do, but was enjoyable!

I started this one a few nights ago. I'm 14% in, and I'm enjoying it so far. It's really really similar to the last romance book I did, which was a Christmas grumpy/sunshine set up. That was a lot shorter though, so I'm hoping that I get some more character development here. I was lucky and got this one as an ARC months ago, or I'd be on the library list with the rest of you all.

I think there was a decent amount of growth for both characters - at least given the timeline in the book.
