This or That Reading Challenge discussion

This: Reread a book that you absolutely loved.
That: Read a fairy tale retelling.

For this month I chose That: Read a fairy tale retelling, for which I read The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter. I really enjoyed this work a lot. The framework for many of the stories were familiar ones: Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, etc., but told with a feminist slant, which really packed a punch the way they were told. And the writing was lyrical and very much in the fairy tale style - although like Grimm Fairy Tales not for little ones - which made them feel very immersive. 4 1/2 stars
