Play Book Tag discussion

I enjoyed reading this collection of short stories, but I had difficulty connecting to the stories and the characters. The stories are odd and the endings often ambiguous. As it says on the jacket cover, Doerr is "exploring the human condition in all its manifestations." But for me, most were too unrealistic to make me feel connected to them. The writing is very beautiful and you can see how Doerr went on to write All the Light We Cannot See. Plus I enjoyed reading a collection of short stories which I could read alongside another book. So 3.5 stars but not enough there to make it to 4.
