This book wavered between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately I opted to round it up due to the STrong writing and likable characters. Given that this was written 16 years before the first description of what would be called CRISPR and that Doudna was first able to "see" it later, and then it was in the 21st century that Doudna and Charpentier were the most pivotal scientists in figuring out how to use it to modify DNA, it was clearly difficult to swallow the scifi part (plus for other reasons!) But even aside from that, it's hard as an adult to buy the long timeline of life even Mrs. Frisby, an untouched mouse, lived.

But as you can see, everything else makes up for that because I've rounded it up to four stars.

Ooooh, fun!

I hope you like it. I"m planning to read the other two he wrote later.
