What confuses me is the 'over-average' part. Are they supposed to be ridiculously normal, or way not?

Appearance: Tall, Reddish auburn hair, green eyes.
Personality: Morally old fashioned, fights for glory and honor. Always fighting for his beliefs. Doesn't ever stray far from his code.
Powers: Able to sense out his surroundings with foresight. (like a sixth sense. He knows what is there and was it is getting ready to do. Not like reading the future. He only sees a few seconds ahead.) Manipulates light into lasers, weapons or force fields. (It's like taking light and shaping it to do what he wants. Laws of light still apply. Like if his beam hits a mirror it reflects off.)
History/Background Information: Grown up middle class. Learned that he could make lasers and point them. He has a sneaking suspicion since he almost decapitated a mugger in a fight with a light blade that came out of his arm that he was supposed to help others with his ability and that he didn't just gain this ability by chance.
Crush: He likes the ladies, but doesn't feel like he should do anything that makes him passionate until he understands himself better. Doesn't what to hurt someone he loves.
Other: Wants to join military since he always felt a draw to it. Those arm blades he keeps using look similar to this but not exactly. The concept is the same. Repeat this is not what the arm swords I have in mind look like.
