If you're at all active on social media sites like Twitter, you've probably witnessed (or participated in) at least one public shaming. It could have been for something innocuous, or something serious - but the new trend is for the public to shame the "perpetrator."

What good does this do? Not much, it turns out. In fact, it often ruins the life of somebody who often doesn't deserve it. Ronson explores this modern phenomena against the backdrop of historical shaming tactics, and in his usual humorous way he delves into the corners of the world of public shaming. While he doesn't address the very real horrors of death threats and harassment that many people suffer, this book should make people stop and think twice before piling on the next person that falls on their face in the cesspool of the internet.

It was an entertaining read, as his works always are.
