Readers-Author Connection discussion

As I love to read as well as write, I want to kick this folder off by asking: what makes you, as an author, choose to write a certain book? What makes one idea better than the other, for you?

It depends on my current headspace and how I feel at the moment. Ideas come to me and I get inspired to write. As I create the worlds, the book takes form and develops a soundtrack, so then I have to listen to certain music. Also if I was in a bad mood when I originally started the story, I have to come to it when I'm feeling that way again... so depending on how bad it is, it might take a long while (years even...)
