Hey guys!
Looking for reccs for newer books I can add to the reading list for the rest of the year! I find myself diving into my library last few months because of bandwidth and would love to open up suggestions to you guys to add to our roster!

Don't forget to add your suggestions to the VF Suggested Reads thread and listopia https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 3: by Ariel (new)

Ariel Stirling | 91 comments Hmm. For some cheesy fun I recommend The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox. A Long Long Sleep by Anna Sheehan is YA but surprisingly good. Apocalypsis:Kahayatle by Elle Casey was also excellent YA.

Sadly, those are all I have to suggest that are VF oriented.

message 4: by Keidy (new)

Keidy | 313 comments Eternity (Immortal Witches #1) by Maggie Shayne. It's a great romance story full of witches, magic and a hell of a love story. <3

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 124 comments *Archetype by M.D. Waters... Kind of - almost - along the lines of Handmaid's Tale meets Dark City with romance. Amnesia involved. First book of 2, but there is an ending of sorts in this one.

*Parasite by Mira Grant
- Science with some romance... you'll never look at tapeworms in the same way. This one, too, has amnesia involved. It's fairly creepy and book 1 of a series.

*Under Different Stars OK... this one is like taking Bourne Identity and mixing in some Sci-Fi and Fantasy and kidnapping and romance - maybe add a dash of Dune. Starts out (this book) on the vanilla side of YA/NA, but this is a series and there is nothing virginal about book #2.

Suzy | 9 comments The most recently published of those I have read that seem to fit with VF is Midnight's Daughter by Karen Chance. I'm currently finishing up the third of this Dorina Basarab trilogy and I've enjoyed it.

message 7: by Malaraa (new)

Malaraa | 335 comments I really enjoyed Henna House by Nomi Eve - historical fiction with a group of wonderfully layered female characters.

Martha Wells has a collection just released of one new and several hard to find older short stories. They're best if you've read her Ile-Rien series, and make a great reason to go back and catch that series now if you haven't yet!

And I mentioned this one in a long lost mermaid thread, but The Golden City by J. Kathleen Cheney is still pretty new, and the third book in the series should be out this year sometime.

message 8: by Daphne (new)

Daphne Chennault (daphnech) | 68 comments Bloodsucking Fiends, by Christopher Moore.

And my book, Chief - Thief, in which a police chief has a torrid affair with a sexy cat burglar! http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00VW6X...

Claire (cacromwell) | 221 comments Some that I've read or are on my TBR list:

Her Highland Fling is a historical romance mid-series novella about a female journalist who travels to a small Scottish town to cover their Highland Games. Short, funny and easy to understand the setting. Pub 2015

Burn for Me is the start of a new series by Ilona Andrews. No sexy times in this one, but full of tension, magic and the usual disjointed family. Pub 2014

Demon Hunting in a Dive Bar is quick paranormal fun. The heroine is a half-demon bartender and the hero is a demon hunter. Great mix of nerdy references and "Southernisms" as well. Pub 2013

The Lover's Knot is one I haven't read, but want to. The heroine has problems with long-term memory and supports herself by making fabulous ink.

message 10: by Sally (new)

Sally Lake | 8 comments just finished the third in the roaring twenties series by Jenn Bennett, Grave Phantoms. It's interesting in part because the romance is interracial, the male lead being Asian and the female lead Caucasian, in a time where segregation was alive and well. the previous two are also great reads, the Magnussen family at the centre of the series are bootleggers during prohibition. They are pretty standalone so you could easily choose book 3 without missing much backstory.

message 11: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 24 comments Radiance (Wraith Kings #1)by Grace Draven

message 12: by Michele (new)

Michele | 128 comments The Girls at the Kingfisher Club 12 dancing princesses in the 20s - haven't read it yet

It Takes a Witch - modern day witches, a mystery, a bit of romance, no sexy times

Just One Damned Thing After Another - time travel historians with a romance

The Mummy

Crocodile on the Sandbank - mystery with romance, fun, just a hint of maybe supernatural, but not really

Tam Lin - fairy tale set on college campus circa 1960s

Carmilla one of the first vampire stories, F/F

Maia lots of sexy times, some of it weird/disturbing, underage MC

Sallesek | 1 comments Born of Defiance by Sherrilyn Kenyon just came out. If you are new to her or haven't read her League series, it is a must have! Anything from Kenyon is!

message 14: by Kim (new)

Kim Pruitt (paranormalyyours) I love vampire romance, and these have lots of sexy times in them to please Bonnie :)
1) State of Grace by Elizabeth Davies
2) Symphony of Light and Winter by Renea Mason
3) Blood Wager by Connie Suttle
Blood Wager is light on the sex in the first book, it's later on it increases but a very good storyline! I hope you check these out cause I loved all these books and would love to hear your thoughts on them!

Kay (queenofrandomness) | 16 comments OH, do I have a list for you.

Trade Me, by Courtney Milan

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Once Upon A Rose, by Laura Florand

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

(Takes place in France! I'd highly suggest her Amour et Chocolat books too that also take in France.)

A Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J. Maas.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Very fairy tale-ish

Also, Gail Carriger now has a spin-off of the Parasol Protectorate series

Another user recommended Uprooted by Naomi Novik. It looks like a great read and definitely on par with this group.

Uprooted

message 18: by Michele (new)

Michele | 128 comments I just finished Heirs of Grace by Tim Pratt and I really liked this one, it was fun. Also, I really recommend it in audio, because the style of the story is extremely conversational, and the narrator did a great job. Plus it's cheap to buy both or free (both) if you do Kindle Unlimited.

So, adopted girl inherits weird house from stranger, discovers magic totally exists and she just became owner and practitioner and not all her new relatives are happy about it. And her lawyer is sexy and sweet.

message 19: by Danielle (new)

Danielle Gauld | 8 comments Have only read the first few pages so no opinion on it yet, and someone may have mentioned this before, but Bear by Marian Engel. It's a controversial Canadian book about a woman's sexual awakening on a remote island where she is spending the summer cataloging the contents of an old nineteenth century library. And the only other inhabitant of the island is a bear. So, uh, full disclosure: the sexy times are with a bear.

message 20: by Genevieve (new)

Genevieve | 8 comments Hi, I suggest Dying for a LivingI really liked this urban fantasy, the heroine Jesse has a job dying for other people. She's able to die for them and then after a few hours she comes back to life. She has a male and a female love interest. The first book is free on Amazon and the three book set is 4.99.

October Daye is also a fantastic series, with that one perhaps one month do the first two, because it keeps getting better after the first one. I love all the characters but my favorite is Tybalt the cat man Rosemary and Rue

message 21: by Chris (new)

Chris (lostinabookgr) | 5 comments Just finished The Other Side of Midnight by Simone St. James and loved it. It's a stand-alone about a medium in 1920's London that came out in April. I did the audio read by Mary Jane Wells. So good.

message 22: by Frakki (last edited Jun 26, 2015 09:18AM) (new)

Frakki Karu | 509 comments I've found a couple of authors I like on Kindle Unlimited. None with great sexy-times, though.
:-(

Melissa F. Olson < Fantasy

Keira Michelle Telford < Apocalyptic

I did buy Ms. Marvel Vol. 1: No Normal (Ms. Marvel Series).

Though, in honor of the AMAZING RULING BY THE SUPREME COURT, maybe it's time for another same-sex book!

message 23: by Jana (new)

Jana Brown (jana_stocks_brown) | 3 comments I got to Beta read Servant of the Crown by Melissa McShane and loved it. Fantasy romance with a political intrigue plot, but the romance really is the focus.

Royal Librarian Alison Quinn has to deal with playboy Prince Anthony North who thinks he can and should get anything he wants.

This one comes out on July 15.
