Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 102 comments Thanks, Peter:

There are 12 short Stories in the book, so maybe I'll submit a few more.

All are Visionary, by the by & I've offered a pdf file of the book to anyone in the group who wants one, but so far no takers.

Now that the one story is up go to the link & read it & if you want the whole book's file, I'll send it on, no problem.

Peter A. | 12 comments Sure Howard, if you're willing to engage in a swap.
I too have a book of short pieces that I self published using Createspace. It's on Amazon, Kindle, Barnesandnoble.com, etc. It's called, "I've Nothing To Offer." I'll read yours and offer constructive criticism with love, if you'll do the same for me. I'll write a review for you on Amazon (and Barnesandnoble.com if you'll do the same for me. What do you think?

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 102 comments Wow, a true PARADOX:

An article I wrote & submitted in the nebulous Past was also published in the same Quarterly Literary Review, but somehow it's not listed in the Table of Contents.

Perhaps a Time Distortion, go figure.

The article explains why my stuff is Visionary & here's that link:

Arun Ellis | 2 comments Hi - Just to let you know that the books 'Corpalism' Corpalism by Arun D. Ellis and 'Daydream Believers' Daydream Believers (Corpalism II) by Arun D. Ellis will be FREE from Amazon for Kindle/PC download from Tuesday 9th June to Saturday 13th June 2015, all I ask is that you kindly leave a review.

Click this link for Corpalism and Daydream Believers on Amazon.Co.Uk
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_n...

Click this link for Corpalism and Daydream Believers on Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_nos...

To help you decide if these are your kind of books I've attached a brief description of each

Corpalism -
The first part is based in an economically dystopian future, a fast-paced thriller that moves in a believable way between fact and fiction, the second part plunges the unsuspecting reader into the distressed mind of Stephanie White a political activist from the new Independent party and victim of the latest terror atrocity locked in a coma fighting a trivial persona her mother has imposed upon her through years of brainwashing, whilst the third has several characters, including Stephanie and Donald from the previous volumes, in a pub arguing various topics from various points of view; the reader being left to decide which is valid. Part four brings all the threads together and the final part is set 20 years in the past.

Daydream Believers-
Revolutionary pensioners who are fed up with unchecked immigration and hell bent on removing corrupt politicians, sexually predatory murderous fat ladies, Machiavellian political intriguers, a mad-eyed Preacher trying to reach the souls of a disinterested public, a chivalric knight, men at work, an avenging 'hand of god', a celebrity 'golden' couple sleeping with everyone but their partner, jackpot winners and a homicidal diarist all combine to create an entertaining story of modern-day Britain.

If you know anyone else who might be interested please feel free to let them know.

Cheers

Arun

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 102 comments The first of this year's TIME TRAVEL BUS videos is now up, an example of shameless self-promotion.

It's the one with 2015 in the title.

Last year's version was long, about a half an hour, so this year I'm putting up a few shorter ones & this is the first:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgGE...

And be sure to see the disclaimer near the end before the final credits, thanks

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 102 comments Another short video from this year's TIME TRAVEL BUS, more shameless promotion:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgGE...

message 16: by Peter (new)

Peter A. | 12 comments This all presupposes there is a shameful form of self promotion. There isn't. Too many groups on social media cites such as Facebook seem to hold to a philosophy by which self promotion is shameful. In truth, the only thing shameful would be the missed opportunity of reading worthwhile visionary fiction because one lacked awareness such works existed and are available.

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 102 comments Bravo Peter

message 18: by Stefan (new)

Stefan Emunds (stefanemunds) | 4 comments The Priest Whisperer is an inspiring novelette series describing the life of George Mykal Ferluci, who lives his life quietly in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But this is about to change. one sunny afternoon George experiences an awe-inspiring vision of another dimension, causing him to doubt his common perception and world view. Two days later, he stumbles into a visionary meditation, sliding deeper and deeper into the realms of his thoughts and feelings. There, he encounters something even more bizarre than his first vision: a voice that entangles him into an odd conversation. And so begins a life-changing, spiritual journey as the voice escorts George to meet his true self face-to-face and teaches him the secrets of spiritual wisdom. Often witty and with inspiring anecdotes, the voice slowly dilutes George’s common sense and opens his mind and heart to receive the lost arcana of other worlds, mankind's true identity, and God.
For a limited time (until the official publishing date that hasn't been set yet), the first part of The Priest Whisperer, The Awakening, will be available as a free read on Goodreads here: The Priest Whisperer. You may download a free pdf copy and even forward it to friends who are interested in reading it.

All of this year's TIME TRAVEL BUS videos are now up on Youtube & all seven of them are much shorter than the one from last year; a much better approach, I think

The first response was from the Media guy at the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth; not to shabby.

And Lance's blog has funny stuff on his coach tours, too.

message 24: by Howard (new)

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 102 comments And Peter, the final count on this year's TIME TRAVEL BUS video is seven, all much shorter than the one I posted last year.

Hey, just stating the true History, yes?

Ha.

message 25: by Jacklyn (new)

Jacklyn Lo (jacklyn_a_lo) | 34 comments Thanks Howard for the info
It might be thrilling for history lovers too, isn't?

message 26: by Howard (new)

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 102 comments Jacklyn, the TIME TRAVEL BUS videos do cover much History, often giving info on the songs requested & what true History is covered in my books, etc.

It's all about shameless self-promotion and fun, yes?

Jonathan LaPoma (jonlapoma) | 2 comments Hello Everyone,

I've got an award-winning novel coming out in September called Developing Minds: An American Ghost Story. DEVELOPING MINDS follows a group of recent college grads who struggle with feelings of alienation and their addictions as they try to survive a year of teaching at two dysfunctional Miami public schools.

The novel is a finalist in the 2015 Stargazer Literary Prizes for best Visionary and Metaphysical Fiction (winners will be announced in October), and it's received several great reviews from respected reviewers. Here are a few blurbs:

“Raw and edgy. . . Entertaining and authentic look at the troubled American education system. . .”

— Kirkus Reviews, Recommended Review

"Should be required reading for anyone who is considering or has ever considered teaching as a career . . . most highly recommended.”

— Jack Magnus, Readers’ Favorite, 5-Star Review

“A scathing comic novel . . . sort of a M*A*S*H for Miami schoolteachers.”

— Patrick Murtha, Book ’em, Danno

“Raunchy, yet captivating . . . Jonathan LaPoma is an extraordinary writer.”

— Stargazer Literary Prizes

If anyone would like to read more about it, check out my website, www.jonlapoma.com.

Thanks!

Jonathan LaPoma

message 34: by Howard (new)

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 102 comments Wow, Peter just posted this to Eloise's blog.
Many thanks Peter, I'm glad you 'get' my take on Visionary Fiction:

Yes Howard, I read the 12 short stories in Tales. I loved them all, although I had a few that were really my favorites. After Tales, I read (and just completed) the next book you sent me, called Piercing. Wow,... the manner in which the last couple of chapters in Part 4 of Piercing pulled it all together and breathed life into the books incredible intro was a real head spinner! Brilliant! Simply brilliant. The intro is the hook. It quickly addicts the reader to continue. I could say more, but I'll refrain for fear of spoiling it for those who've not yet had the opportunity to read the book. Suffice it to say that as the books intro beckons one to read more, my advice to future readers is that they submit to the allure of the intro and read more‬‬‬

She sent questions and I sent answers a few months ago and I'd since forgotten about it.
Then I got a notification yesterday that it was up.
Anything positive helps, yes?

Kara Lane | 1 comments Hello, All. Nice to meet others in the visionary fiction genre...it's a small corner of the world & there's a lot of diversity within it. My book is about a woman who discovers the purpose of life after she dies & must decide whether to live again. She only has an hour to decide. Simoni's Gift A Story about Your Purpose in Life by Kara Lane

I look forward to checking out the books included on the group's bookshelf!

message 42: by Ryal (new)

Ryal Woods (rwoods) | 7 comments Hi, I'm Ryal Woods and joined a few months ago. I write books featuring gay male characters and publish with MLR press. I'm working on a series of five books, called Secrets of the Senses. Book I, Murmur, came out a year or so ago, and book II, Becoming, came out last summer.

Secrets of the Senses explores the powers our senses have in creating the world around us. Each book takes place in a different time and place, but all of the characters are linked by their ability to use their senses in ways most of us don't. They're so powerful, the senses themselves are sentient, and share a link with their human counterpart.

While the books feature characters with highly evolved senses, my goal is to point out the natural powers of our senses to perhaps perceive beyond what we normally allow.

I'm currently working on the third book in Secrets of the Senses, Echo.

Peter A. | 31 comments Well, well, well Howard !
The news of a possible International Literary Award for one of your works on the Elastic Limit certainly comes as no surprise to me. It was a veritable certainty that greater recognition would arrive.
You write incredibly well.Your creativity is also 'beyond the limit'.
Your knowledge of history coupled with your unique ability to synthesize fiction with nonfiction in an incredibly imaginative and riveting fashion is uniquely unparalleled.
People should be reading your works, plain and simple. Your books thoroughly entertain as well as educate the reader.
