✨ayla✨ {am i doing the right thing?} | 2070 comments TW: Insomnia, medicine use

I am not diagnosed but i can never sleep until its like 2 in the morning. I've tried melatonin but it didn't work. I've done no screens for an hour before. I've tried waking up early to wear myself out. But i havent been able to fix it. Does anyone have tips?

So last night I was asleep and all I saw was a clear vision of my room but I couldn't move and there was something in the corner of the room obvi I soon woke up crying

I went back to sleep but for some reason idk where it came from people were killing others and I was running and then zombies showed up and I struggled waking up from this all ik is I watched people die and I woke up in tears again

*sighs* I tried to go back to sleep but when I tried creepy faces popped up everytime I shut my eyes and I couldn't go back to sleep until 4 in the morning and I only got sleep when I cuddled with my cat and her purring and warm body put me to sleep

whenever i really can’t sleep (which thankfully isn’t often), i do this thing called progressive muscle relaxation
first you scrunch up your toes/feet then release tense up your legs, then release. your butt, release. your stomach, release. scrunch up your shoulders up to your ears, release. scrunch up your face, release. it feels really nice and it helps your body relax :)

I literally had this last night and idk if I was dreaming, but it felt like I was falling and I couldn't move at all.
I've literally spent most of last night reading because I was too scared to fall asleep and not move.

The worst thing I've had so far was when I was 8, and I woke up thinking someone was sitting in the corner of my room muttering things to me, and i slept on the couch crying.

basically every night I take 2 melatonins every night and I sleep for about 3 hours. I always wake up around 2 am and I can't go back to sleep after that. idrk if it is insomnia but I've told my mom abt it and she just tells me its bc I'm on my phone too much. but I put my phone up 2 hrs before I go to sleep. does anyone have any advice or tips so I can sleep better?

I am the same and I found a few ideas in Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker. I have night time asthma and these days I am on oxygen. Sometimes I stop breathing but so far I wake up. Melatonin makes me sicker but I had some success with soma. I always have nightmares when I get night time asthma.
