10.3 US Semiquincentennial
To commemorate the planning and erection of the Statue of Liberty from 1865 to 1886, read a book first published in 1865-1886 or in any year ending in 6.

10.4 Winnie-the-Pooh
To mark the 100th anniversary of the first publication of Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne on 14 October, 1926, read a book with “the” in the title (not subtitle) but not as the first word. E.g. Hadrian the Seventh, Maigret and the Old Lady, A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.

10.5 Evan Hunter/Ed McBain
To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Salvatore Albert Lombino aka Evan Hunter aka Ed McBain, author of The Blackboard Jungle and prolific crime fiction writer, on 15 October, 1926, read a book by a prolific author who has published a series containing at least 15 books. Your book doesn't have to be part of the long series, but please give the name of the long series when you post.

Read a book by an author with double letters in their name, e.g. Lee Child (ee), James Ellroy (ll). Double letters can be within the author's first, last, or middle name, but not in initials, so J.R.R. Tolkien would not work.

20.1 Star Trek
The first episode of Star Trek aired 60 years ago, in September 1966. Read a book with MPG Science Fiction or Space (including sub themes like Science Fiction Fantasy or Space Opera).

20.2 Prime Directive
Read a book about first contact with another culture, species, or civilization. Note: This task is about whole populations or cultures or species interacting for the first time, not about a person vacationing in a new country.

20.3 Mr. Spock
Read a book with a main character who has biracial or two-species parentage (e.g., a biracial protagonist, a hybrid being like a centaur).

20.4 Vulcan Philosophy
Read a nonfiction book with the words logic, philosophy, or ethics in the title or subtitle or with an MPG of logic, philosophy, or ethics. Note: This need not be overly serious -- see, e.g., Feline Philosophy: Cats and the Meaning of Life, The Pig That Wants to Be Eaten: 100 Experiments for the Armchair Philosopher, The Upside of Irrationality: The Unexpected Benefits of Defying Logic at Work and at Home.

In honor of these groundbreaking actors of color, read a book shelved at least 30 times as own-voices.

20.6 1960s
Star Trek first aired in September 1966. Read a book set in (at least 75%) or published between 1960-1970.

20.7 Puzzle Fun (Owlette's task)
I enjoy crossword puzzles. Read any novel with a character whose name contains the letter Z. Please provide the character’s name.

20.8 Haunted House (Anika's task)
I love visiting a good haunted house when a chill fills the air and the nights grow long. Around every corner, another terrifying scene awaits: a coven of witches raising the dead, a vampire draining another victim, zombies reaching out for your fresh flesh, demons dancing in hellish flames...it helps to know they're just actors, otherwise it would certainly lose its "fun" ;-)
For this task, read a book that has at least TWO of the following Halloween monster archetypes: witches/wizards, vampires, werewolves, zombies, demons/devils, mummies, or ghosts. (Ex.: Interview with the Vampire wouldn't work because it only has vampires; Macbethby William Shakespeare would work since it has witches and Banquo's ghost.) When posting, please include what two "monster" types you found in your book. There is a link to a Listopia for this task in the task thread.

20.9 Kobayashi Maru (Joanna's task)
The Kobayashi Maru is Starfleet's famous no-win training scenario. Read a book by an author who has been shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clark Award, but has never won. There is a list of these authors in the task thread.

20.10 Wales (Rosemary's task)
I am researching the lives of some of my ancestors, and I've found that 25% of my 32 great-great-great-grandparents were born in Wales. Read a book by an author born in Wales, or a book set at least 25% in Wales, or with the letters WALES found somewhere in the title (not subtitle) of the book.
