Darwin's Radio

From Amazon.com:

All the best thrillers contain the solution to a mystery, and the mystery in this intellectually sparkling scientific thriller is more crucial and stranger than most. Why are people turning against their neighbors and their newborn children? And what is causing an epidemic of still births? A disgraced paleontologist and a genetic engineer both come across evidence of cover-ups in which the government is clearly up to no good. But no one knows what's really going on, and the government is covering up because that is what, in thrillers as in life, governments do. And what has any of this to do with the discovery of a Neanderthal family whose mummified faces show signs of a strange peeling?

Amber (hippiefemme) | 9 comments I love this book so far. The way the stories weave together within the first two hundred pages fascinated me; I couldn't wait for them to meet. Now that I'm over halfway through the book, I can't wait to see what happens to the human subspecies!

Kristi (firefly99) | 27 comments I picked up the book from the library last week, and I fully intend to start it before the month is over! (I swear)

I have been on a food book binge so I haven't had the chance to start this one yet although I picked it up from B&N ages ago. Gonna start this week, I swear!

Leigh (heroicleigh) | 1 comments Will there be a book for January?

Amber (hippiefemme) | 9 comments Finished the book. I was afraid that the technical terms would drag it down as a few reviews mentioned, but I didn't get that feeling. It was fascinating, and I had to devour the last fifty-odd pages all at once.

I hope everyone else enjoyed the theories in the book, too!

Kristi (firefly99) | 27 comments I haven't finished it yet, but i find it fascinating. I have a little bit of a science background, not so much genetics, but I understand enough to know that the science in it is actually really good. To me, that makes it just that much more believable and creepy. Well written, and definitely something I would read again.
I don't know if you guys realized this, but there's a sequal... Darwin's Children.

I am hopelessly, hopelessly behind on this book! It's been hard for me to get into it for some reason (I'm only in the first 10 pages I think) but I'm going to hunker down and keep trying!

*gasps* There's a sequel? I'm definitely going to have to check that out. I see that my local library has it, so I might just pick it up today.

Self-propelled | 40 comments I admit I picked it up way back sometime last year and never got past the first few chapters. It was nothing particularly egregious that put me off - it read like a 'conventional' thriller - but at some point I saw how many inches of book I'd yet to get through and didn't relish the prospect of finishing. A particularly un-insightful review, I know - glad others enjoyed it more than I did.
