Jillian (jillreadsabook) I've been reading a lot of books about shifters, werewolves, and vampires, but i haven't read any on faeries or angels, so is there any series or books you love and would recommend? Also could you tell me why you loved that book, thanks!!

Jillie

Heather B (heatherbenson) Well on I can think of that is a faerie series is the Wicked Lovely series. I liked it cause it was different than most of the other books I have read, I can't pinpoint any excat reasons I like it though.

message 3: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) And there is one angel book that everyone says is really good, I haven't actually read it yet though. It's called Hush Hush.

message 4: by Joseph (new)

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 216 comments Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire is a really good one about faeries.

message 5: by Brenna (new)

Brenna Lyons (BrennaLyons) | 177 comments I have a fairies book called Fairy Dreams, but it's got a lot of dark elements in it, so if you don't read dark, it's not for you.

Another good one is Faery Magic anthology by Jo Beverly, Karen Harbaugh, Mary Jo Putney, and Barbara Samuel. It's four intertwined stories about fairies, and it's a rather unique world, as fairies go. They seem stand-alone, but then they come together in the end.

I have a series that's on submission right now about angels, but it's not out yet, obviously.

message 7: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments You could try Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. It is about fairies. One of my favorite series for mystery, romance, paranormal, and a whole boat load of fun!

message 8: by Brenna (new)

Brenna Lyons (BrennaLyons) | 177 comments Other good fairies series?

Yesterday's Dreams and Tomorrow's Memories by Danielle Ackley-McPhail. The two Badass Fairies anthologies, which she put together.

Also, Shadow Fae trilogy by Elaine Corvidae.

If you don't mind angel-like that aren't really angels... My absolute favorite winged people book is Vassal of El by Gloria Oliver. I'm on my second copy of it, because my daughters and I have read it ragged over the last four or five years.

Brenna

♥Lynn ♥ | 519 comments Laurell K Hamilton has the A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, #1) with the Fae in it. Sookie Stackhouse books because she finds out she is part fae because her grandmother slept with a Fae man in order to have her kids. Angels....Hush, Hush or Covet. Good luck!

This is my favorite as well!! I can't put these books down!

new_user | 1389 comments A Mermaid's Kiss is the first in Joey Hill's mermaid/angel books. Pretty much my favorite angels. They're very complex, layered people here, and the books are very emotional/thoughtful and sexy. What else could you want? LOL.

Angels' Blood starts another great one. Edgy angels again, very interesting world with corporate, cutthroat angels who still have that otherworldly aura.

Storm Born begins another good series. You will love these fae. ;) This author is great at relationships and danger and her heroine is very easy to relate to, funny and down-to-earth.

message 12: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments They are great! I only wish Shadowfever at least had a release date. I keep hoping one will come with her newsletter, but nothing yet :(

message 13: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (Savhage Temptrest) (savhagetemptress) | 330 comments Another series involving angels is the Seven Deadly Sins Series by Erin McCarthy and the Samaria Series by Sharon Shinn.

message 14: by Klehmenteen (new)

Klehmenteen (kanni) | 10 comments Emma Holly has a book called Fairyville which is verrrry good and ALL about fairies. ;)

message 15: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 97 comments I'm a HUGE KMM Fever fan. I love the series sooo much. I highly recommend that series and her Highlander series, which is loaded with paranormal, too.

Try Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series for fae. I also recommend the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning, as well. Maybe also Holly Black's Tithe?

For angels, you could try J.R. Ward's Covet and Lauren Kate's Fallen.

I haven't read any books by Lauren Kate or Holly Black yet, but I plan to soon.

message 16: by Sally (new)

Sally (larwos) | 258 comments Shanna Swendson, writes about magic, which includes, faeries, elves, wizards etc. Great fun.

Also, there is a wonderful YA book by Aprilynne Pike - Wings. I just loved it and it is about faeries.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) I second the suggestions from New User Angels' Blood and Storm Born are 2 of my favorites new series. They both have strong female leads and a solid story with lots of sexual tension--good Stuff!

Another great series with fae that may have been suggested is the Fever series--the first book in the series is Darkfever it is an UF.

I have my books categorized (for the most part). Feel free to take a look at my shelves:

My Faerie Shelf

My Angels & Demons Shelf

message 18: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments Yes many have recommended Darkfever Cherra! Glad to see another fan! Cherra is correct the first two books are mostly UF; however, as the series continues they become more romance. (Book 4 has a continuous sex scene, but the book itself is not totally a romance.) Just in case anyone was wondering.

Rhonda (helpmerhonda72) I just finished Richelle Mead's Dark Swan series. There's only 2 boks right now but more to come. I LOVED THEM!!!!! Faerie (Gentry)

message 22: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda (helpmerhonda72) Devil's Kiss (Billi SanGreal, #1)
by Sarwat Chadda

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Another vote for the Fever series by Karen Moning. One of my favorite series of all time!

I'm reading Lament by Maggie Stiefvater and it's a really good YA series.

message 24: by Wendalyn (last edited Jan 31, 2010 10:25PM) (new)

Wendalyn Peterson | 22 comments I just read Fallen it is good about Angels. It is book 1 of 2 which is coming out later this summer. By Lauren Kate.

Another fantastic books is JR Ward and COVET which is the first book in what I am guess will be about 7 books or so. I really loved this one.

message 25: by Nairabell (new)

Nairabell | 193 comments For angels, Angel with Attitude by Michelle Rowen is great. There's also Fallen Angel which I haven't read yet.

Faerie wise there's Laurell K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry series that's already been mentioned, and the anthology Faeries Gone Wild which is on my TBR.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) I am currently reading Succubus Blues & there is a wicked little angel named Carter who is very much part of the story. It is too early to tell exactly what he's got up his sleeve...time will tell. So far, he is a character I love to hate-his antics get me so fired up!

message 27: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina | 13 comments Holly Black's Tithe, Valiant, and Ironside are very good Faery books. They're mature YA so not very explicit romance, but it's still in there.

message 28: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (naomifluffy) | 40 comments There's this book I know, its not about faeries or angels exactly, but its really good. It's called Evermore. It's about this girl whose family has died, and she has psychic powers, like mind-reading and stuff.

message 29: by Lady E. (new)

Lady E. (nightsky101) | 17 comments PATCH'S EYES WERE BLACK ORBS.
TAking in everything and giving away nothing.
not that i wanted to know more about Patch.
Since I hadn't liked what i'd seen on the surface,
I doubted I'd like what was lurking deep inside.
Only, this wasn't exacly true. I'd liked a lot of what I'd seen. Long, lean muscles down his arms, broad but rlaxed shoulders, and a smile that was part playful, part seductive. I was in an uneasy allience with myself, trying to ignore what had started to feel irresistible.
-From hush, hush

Amazing book about a fallen angel

message 30: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (naomifluffy) | 40 comments Patch sounds hot, doesn't he?!

message 31: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) He is hot!

message 32: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (naomifluffy) | 40 comments Who do you think would be a good character for him, if it became a movie?

message 33: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) Humm good question... I'm bad with actors so I don't really know. Do you remember a description of him? I haven't read it in a while I can't really remember what exactly he looks like.

message 34: by Mhollie (new)

Mhollie | 178 comments I love this series.
Night's Rose & The Prince of Frogs
Faeries (sexy Ambrose), orgres, vampires, demons...
Excellent stuff!

message 35: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (naomifluffy) | 40 comments Patch was: tall, dark, sexy, lean, stuff like that I think. :)

message 36: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) What colour was his hair again?

I think I saw on her website that it's coming out on December 28, 2010

message 38: by Merri (new)

Merri (angelicxx3) | 5 comments I've read Fallen (angels)which is now my favourite book EVER!!1 This book is hopefully the start of a magical series- loved it. Definitely recommend.

message 39: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (naomifluffy) | 40 comments Heather, I think it was black... maybe. :)

message 40: by Amanda (last edited Mar 17, 2010 04:38PM) (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 97 comments I just finished The Iron King and LOVED it. It's the best Fae book I've read in a long time. I rated it 5 stars on my review site.

I also recently read Tithe (3 stars), Valiant (2 stars), and Ironside (4 stars). Tithe was okay for me, I really really disliked Valiant, and I really enjoyed Ironside.

Also for Fae, I'm sure someone has recommendedDarkfever, Bloodfever,Faefever andDreamfever. LOVE this series.

Also try Wicked Lovely, Ink Exchange and Fragile Eternity. (Can you tell I've been on a young adult kick recently?)

I've read Fallen, which I loved. Torment comes out in September, I believe.

I'm currently reading Hush, Hush.

message 41: by Shannon (new)

Shannon C. | 69 comments Hi, I have several suggestions for you and I divided them up by paranormal romance and urban fantasy.

Paranormal romance...

Guild Hunters series by Nalini Singh - Terrific new PNR series with angels and vampires. Reminds me of a cross between Night Huntress by Frost and BDB by Ward. Frost in the way it follows a strong, interesting lead female throughout the series and she's reluctant at first for the relationship. Ward in the way that it has a darker feel.

Tairen Soul series by CL Wilson - Awesome series w/the Fey. One of my favs. Excellent world building, appealing characters, great romance.

Little Goddess series by Amy Lane - Very good PNR by an Indy author, the series includes the Fae, vampires and shifters. Great world building, excellent character development. Heartwrenching at times (have tissues ready!), but rest assured that the heroine does find happiness.

Wicked Enchantment by Anya Bast - Not as strong as the other books I mentioned, but still an entertaining little romance. Good world building, but not all that original.

Urban fantasy...

Fever books by Karen Moning - Focused on the Fae, great world building, interesting characters. Her Highlander PNRs have some related characters in the later books in the series.

Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs - One of my all time favorite series. Includes shapeshifters, the Fae and vampires. Great mix of mystery, suspense, action and a little romance.

Dorina Basarab Dhampir series by Karen Chance - This is a spin off series to the Cassandra Palmer series, which I like better than the original. Don't miss the anthology in On the Prowl, which should be read after Midnight's Daughter...great story focused on the Fae.

Sookie Sackhouse series by Charlaine Harris - Quirky, fun mystery series with vampires, shapeshifters and the Fae

Jane True series by Nicole Peeler - Similar in style to Sookie Sackhouse but the Fae come out earlier and play a bigger role

October Daye series by Seanan McGuire - Just read the first book so far. Focused on the Fae, the novel has excellent world building and a good mystery. But it was pretty depressing.

Shannon C. | 69 comments <>

That's a good erotic book w/the Fae. Another good one is Storm's Faeries by Jory Strong. But both books are high on the sex content, just in case that isn't your thing.

message 43: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) Naomi wrote: "Who do you think would be a good character for him, if it became a movie?"

Okay well the only ones that I could come up with so far because I'm really bad with actors are these, and I know that they are not perfect.
Tom Sturridge
Steven Straight
Drew Doyon
Gaspard Ulliel

Do you know any of them?

message 44: by Dani (new)

Dani (eruname) | 1 comments Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingstone is about faeries
also dark fever by Karen Moning, I just bought it but haven't read it yet so I'll just say it sounds really good and I saw somebody recomended it so even better :]

message 45: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (naomifluffy) | 40 comments I don't know the names, but I might know them from sight.

The Romance Reviews (Carole) (The_Romance_Reviews) | 37 comments Am going to start on Dark Fever by Karen Marie Moning coz I heard they're good. ALso on the horizon is JR Ward's Fallen Angels series.

message 47: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) Angelology A Novel by Danielle Trussoni was a pretty good story. It is kind of like the book The Historian, but faster paced, I think. This story has angels and nephilim in it.

message 49: by Dot (new)

Dot | 1 comments I read Hush Hush last week sometime and fell in love with books of fallen angels, partly because of patch who is the mysteriously sexy fallen angel.

Lori {Romancing the Dark Side} (romancingthedarkside) Veronica wrote: "I like Angels' Blood and Archangel's Kiss by Nalini Singh."

I definitely have to agree, I'm not really into the fae or shape-shifter books, I love vampire paranormal romance but picked these books up and couldn't put them down! The author is amazing and the chemistry between the main characters is great, the human/angel/vampire world is a new twist. I highly recommend these first two books of what looks to be a promising series! :)
