Looking forward toBrust, Steven: Iorich, I have on pre order at my local shop.
Hendee, Barb & J C: Through Stone and Sea (#8 Noble Dead)
Oh excellent! There's a new book by Alexander Jablokov. He's a fine Canadian sf writer who hasn't released anything since I think the late nineties. And, not to pre-empt this list, the mmpb comes out in June according to Amazon. Jablokov writes well and his characters, particularly aliens, are very inventive. This makes me very happy.
I read a novel by Jablokov called Carve the Sky, many years ago. Very good. He also has some great short stories.
There are so many good books on this list, I don't even know where to begin!

Indeed, the Jablokov book got so much of my attention that I missed the Joe Haldeman book and the Walter Jon Williams title, both of which interest me quite a bit.
I will definitely be purchasing Bone Crossed and Wild Hunt (I just finished the first Evie Scanlan book a few weeks ago). I didn't know Jasper Fforde had a new one coming out, so I'll probably look for that as well - I *love* his books. I will probably hold off on the new Robin Hobb until I hear some reviews... I LOVED her Farseer & Tawny Man trilogies, hated her Liveship Traders trilogy (I finished it because I kept reading, hoping it would get better, but it didn't), and liked but didn't love her Soldier's Son trilogy, so she's not quite a buy it right away author for me.
I'll definitely be purchasing Iorich eventually, but not until it's out in paperback. I don't buy hardcovers, with very few exceptions.

These are the ones that caught my eye and will go on my "watch for" list. I rarely buy new books...

Cornwell, Bernard: The Burning Land
Cornwell, Bernard: Agincourt (tp)

Hmm... I see that 'Dark Lady's Chosen' by Martin is on this list. I just commented over on the December list that it was missing from that list, because I thought it was due to be published tomorrow. Of course, I suppose that's close enough to January, anyway. *grins* I really enjoy this series, despite being riddled with cliches, so I've been looking forward to this book ever since the (damndable) cliffhanger ending of the third. I feel silly for posting it in the other thread now. *meep*I'll wait for Green's latest Nightside in paperback, though, but I will pick that up in due course.
But I gave up on the Noble Dead series after the disappointing ending of Child of a Dead God, and the fact it switched main focus from Leesil and Magiere to Wynn, whom I always found overly naive and annoying.
Nothing else is jumping out at me.
Not at all. I know a few other people who were disappointed in it, too. I think the last three books were all weak, but I stuck with it expecting a payoff, and it just fizzled. At the start of the series I would've gladly recommended it to others - not anymore, though.
I love Ray Bradbury so I will have to scoop up We'll Always Have Paris Stories. I have read 451 three times in the last year and The Halloween Tree.
These 3 are on my definately read list:Fforde, Jasper: Shades of Grey
Hobb, Robin: Dragon Keeper (#1 Rain Wilds Chronicles)
Hoyt, Sarah A: Darkship Thieves

I'm tempted by the Robin Hobb, but I'm way behind with reader her earlier books, so I think I'll try to get a bit more caught up first.I bought Bone Crossed in hardcover, so won't get that, but will be looking forward to the next in the series next month.
Already picked up WJW's This Is Not a Game (B&N had it on the shelves already), and I'll also be grabbing Haldeman's Starbound. There's a few others that I'll eventually get, but they're not big priorities.
I've ordered the Esslemont book from Amazon. I love the Malazan stuff....The Carol Berg title looks very interesting. I might have to look into that.
I'll be picking up Janny's book too, but I still have a few to get to before I need Peril's Gate.
