What do you know about the Madrigals? If we pool our information then maybe we can find some answers about this mysterious group. Do you think they are good or bad? Do you think any of the characters we know could be Madrigals or the Man in Black?

Ok, I'm going to post my reports here that I make for this other Madrigal Hunting group thing I'm in:

Jan. 4: I chose Option 1. As weapon specialist, digging into weapons linked with the M yielded next to no results—they have been careful to leave no tangible evidence. In each of my future reports, I will focus on a weapon used in the books in order to fulfill my weapon specialist duties. As researcher2, I did research about the term Madrigal. Encyclopedia Britannica says that the word “madrigal” means a “form of vocal chamber music that originated in northern Italy during the 14th century, declined and all but disappeared in the 15th, flourished anew in the 16th, and ultimately achieved international status in the late 16th and early 17th centuries.” The popularity of the madrigal form of music may correspond to the fluctuations of power, influence, and/or knowledge of the M in these time periods (they have definitely “achieved international status”). I was also wondering if they could send messages in code through song, kind of like in the second book One False Note. Madrigal songs could also be a way for preserving the history of the M (like how some cultures pass legends along through oral storytelling), especially because they often refer to their founder (Madeleine, probably Olivia’s other child). Madeleine can be seen as the “mother” of the M, and in Book 5 (in code) and the Madrigal Journal included with the second card pack both have messages that say, “Remember Madeleine.” This is very interesting considering that the word madrigal, used for the type of music, is believed to be derived from the Latin word matricale meaning “in the mother tongue.” “Matr” is the Latin root for “mother,” as can be seen in the words “matriarch” and “matricide.” Basically, my point here is that the name for madrigal music could relate to Madeleine, mother of the M. Locations for the HTH Locators can include Italy, because that was where madrigal music originated, and England and Germany, which were countries that also embraced this music style. In Italy, the Locators may want to focus on Florence because that is the hometown of one of the most famous madrigal music composers, Francesco Landini, who may be a possible Madrigal. I have a bit of information about the M: You know how in the second card pack pamphlet, it implies that a Madrigal shot Archduke Ferdinand and started the first World War? Well in history class, my teacher showed us a picture of the person who killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Gavrilo Princip, and he was dressed completely in black. Apparantly he was part of a group called the Black Hand, which trained people like him about spy stuff so they could assassinate the Archduke...

I suppose we have three possible situations:
1. Amy and Dan renounce their branch;
2. Madrigals are good guys; or
3. Amy and Dan must be exterminated at all costs.

If you think about it, all the branches have been acting on the third situation anyhow. Personally, I think that the M will end up working for some good cause, but for the moment I still say down with the Madrigals and up with the Tomas. Wherever Amy and Dan fit into that...well, the Tomas have to win. Whatever the cost.

okay, first of all, I'm pretty sure that all of the branches are bad except for the Madrigals. They don't want this to happen. They want to prevent it. A sudden ursurp of power is bad.

Hey! What's with the trash talk about the Madrigals? They. Are. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're the best branch!
And here's my theory, if anyone's interested: The Madrigals are actually the good guys. They're trying to destroy the 39 Clues, because of all the conflicts they're creating, but the other 4 branches are so obsessed with the clues that they see what the Madrigals are doing as acts of extreme evil. In a lot of situations, Madrigals were in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
