Hmmm . . . lots of people are against blatant porn and understandably so, particularly when the storyline goes into detail about those sexual practices that are illegal . . . ie., child pornography, bestiality, etc.I personally don't like sex in a story just for the sake of sex. If it is part of a good plot that doesn't revolve only around erotic "turn-ons", and once again, it is portrayed in a sensitive and realistic manner, I see nothing wrong with it.
As far as kiddie porn and the like go, the only reason I can see using them as part of the plot is to show how villainous the villain really is. I don't advocate making it into a sultry scene, but probably more of a fade to black and let the reader's imagination do the work. Imagination is king, after all!
I ask this question because the backdrop of my story is The Four Horsemen. It is a sci-fi book, but when I tell people about the biblical reference, they automatically assume that it is a christian fiction novel. It is FAR from it.
In chosing a back drop, it didn't want to use the clinche of vampires, werewolves and zombies.
