This seems to be a popular genre for adult escapist reading. This year two books I read in this category were:
Graceling by Kristin Cashore by Kristin Cashore and
Hannah's Garden by Midori Snyder by Midori Snyder

Luann (azbookgal) | 46 comments Lee, have you read the companion book to Graceling, Fire? Some people didn't like it as much as Graceling, and I thought I would feel the same. But I really liked it! I gave them both 5 stars.

Edit: Oh, and I just added Hannah's Garden to my TBR. Sounds good!

Luann, I didn't know there was a companion book. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, onto the pile it goes!

I can't wait!

Peregrine | 91 comments The Alchemyst by Michael Scott is the first in the series "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel." The next two are The Magician and The Sorceress; The Necromancer is due out at the end of May. I reread the earlier books every time a new title comes out. There will be six in this series altogether, and they've come out as scheduled, one a year, just as the author said they would. Action, characters from myth and history, lots of twists, and a pair of bewildered, resentful, yet save-the-world-calibre teenage twins . . . I can't wait till May 25!

Hi Peregrine, welcome to the group!
These must be very good if they have you re-reading them after every new title appears! I will add them to our group shelves so we can all enjoy.

Graceling is very good! I enjoyed The Alchemyst, too, but didn't get back to the series.

Felicia Rogers (feliciarogers) | 37 comments One to check out in this genre is Rebekah Purdy's Shapeshifter series by Astraea Press. She is a fellow author friend, but I won a free copy of her book from a contest and it was AWESOME! YA and paranormal.
