Does anyone know when they'll announce the 2010 winners? I've searched a little bit online but haven't found anything...just Newbery predictions.

This year's ALA Youth Media Awards announcement will take place from the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on Jan. 18, at 7:45 a.m. (that is Eastern time .. adjust for your time zone!)Visit the Youth Media Awards Announcement page (http://bit.ly/4uOFNN) for more information. The twitter hashtag is also handy for the tweeters among us.
They choose from books published in 2009. So a Newbery like The Giver was published in 1993 and won the Newbery in 1994. If you go to this list on goodreads you will see a few of the books they are reviewing this year. Of course this is not the official list but it's probably pretty close. http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/18...
I guess what I was wondering is if they have narrowed down the list or is all that we know is that they are looking at all books published in 2009? Well, of course books that are of the right age group, I know they aren't choosing adult books for the newbery medal. I just thought that maybe they had it down to a list of like 20 or 30 books they were going to choose the winner from. Maybe I am just naive to think that there were that many books published in 2009.
I don't think they have a list of 'nominees' or anything like that to choose from. I think some books have buzz around them as potential winners, but like last year the committee chose one that didn't really have a lot of buzz (from librarians, publications, student votes, etc.).
