I’ve been looking back through the old contests. Nobody posted a story in Week 1. St. Patrick’s Day has been used twice, in Week 2 and Week 36. Alex and Kat have been in the group almost since the very beginning. In Week 4, Sunny, who must have been the original moderator, listed the topic as “Death,” and Kat said, “YAY!”

I just keep up that post so I can scan the topics that have been used and not repeat one when I’m putting up a contest. You know, there’s some interesting stuff in those old threads! Somebody could write an interesting, informal history of the W.S.S.

Al, you are so funny when you are being silly. Getting published is easy. Being remembered for words written even as we grow old is far more difficult. Being remembered for our words after we are dead is just about impossible!

Hey Al, have you tried practicing in front of a mirror? It really helped me out when I used to be in plays.

Excellent idea, Christa. When I was young I hid in the back of the room. If I can become someone who stands in front of a room full of people, then undoubtedly you can too with a little support and encouragement from we, your crew of wanton whatnots and pirates!

I am now imagining my self standing beside you while you go and practice in front of a mirror.

@27. Notice how that change in perspective changes what getting published means? Now you can relax and get on with writing. The weight of being published or not falls outside of real meaningfulness.

Oh and speaking in different accents, specially if you are really awful at sounding Irish, English, Mexican or whatever. It's gets your mind off of what you are saying and more of how you are saying, soon you'll be laughing which always helps relieve stress.

Somebody once told me that the way to get rid of stage fright is to imagine that the audience has no clothes on. Apparently, the problem then is to keep from laughing.

LoL! That is funny. Then next time I am teaching I'll give that a try.

Lol. M, I think that's going to help me out for sure. I'm probably the worst person ever, at public speaking.

I despise speaking in front of people. I'll have all my stuff ready, then, once I stand up and start talking, i get flustered, forget what I'm supposed to be speaking about even though it's in front of me, ramble on about something strange until I'm done, then sit down and cower away from anyone and everyone.
