A. (almas) | 232 comments I can't wait to put my hands on this book

Drawings of William Blake

Tonight, I was browsing through some poems and came across one of Blake's poems...and since I know very little about the poet, I turned to wikipedia and learned that he was a painter as well!

...and I had to stop @ this one

William Blake's Newton (1795), color print with pen & ink and watercolor.

A. (almas) | 232 comments I read the Divine Comedy in Arabic when I was a teen. All I could remember that it's an epic. I did not understand much at that time :(

And I just remembered... before knowing how to read, I recall a huge book in my father's office, I used to enjoy looking at. It was full of drawings about H&H and the Day of Judgment...I wonder if they were by Blake?

I hope I'll remember to look for it the next time I visit my parents.

Thank you Monica for the recommendation, I'll see if I can find them @ our local lib. or @ B&N.

:)

Monica | 909 comments The Manhattanville College exhibition catalogue will be next to impossible to find but the Dover edition of the Divine Comedy you can order right from Dover.

http://store.doverpublications.com/04...

Dover does fascimile reprints of early editions like this one of Songs of Innocence http://store.doverpublications.com/04...

They have dozens of products available of Blake's work, even tatoos! http://search.store.yahoo.net/cgi-bin...

A. (almas) | 232 comments I hope I'll have the chance to hunt for books this weekend.

I like the Dover's. If I don't find any @ B&N I'll probably end up buying from them.

Thank you Monica for the recommendations and the link :)

Michael This is a good book if you are interested in his "illuminated" poems:

Also, this is a good website:

He and his wife colored each copy of his books by hand, and there are a number of interesting variations out there.

Carol (goodreadscomcarolann) | 1140 comments Blake also illustrated the Book of Job -- one of my favorites!
