Karen L. That's cute! My cat would like that. He is very smart from sitting on my kids laps when they read!

Karen L. another different thing- off the topic:
James F, I should be getting Tim Keller's "The Reason For God:Belief in the Age of Skepticism " in the mail today! Also he is coming to speak in my area on May 22. I am going, and I want to take my skeptic brothers!

I saw "Expelled" last weekend. If you have a chance to see this you might want to go soon. In my area it was at several theaters a week ago and was down to two matinee showings by the weekend. Highly recommended. For further information see http://www.expelledthemovie.com/

Karen L. R.R., thanks for posting on the movie, "Expelled." Wow, my husband and I just viewed the trailer and were very impressed. We will look into seeing it for sure.

Skylar Burris (skylarburris) | 134 comments I've been meaning to see this. Thanks for reminding me it's out.

James | 46 comments Cool. Tim is a great guy and very cogent in his arguments for the Lord. Bring as many people as you can lol get a bus. I've taken a couple friends to some services where he preached and some liked him and some didn't get it. I'll pray for your brothers.

"Expelled" looks interesting...theres no theaters playing it here though. Hopefully

Karen L. James
So you got to visit Tim Keller's church- great! My sister -in-law is trying to get her good friend in N.Y. to go. He is a skeptic. My husband started the "Reason for God," book and said it is very good, clear and answers many questions. We are going to read the book in our adult & Teen Sunday school class, in 2 weeks.

Hope this isn't redundant. I just posted a comment and it vanished into the ozone.

"The Reason for God" came into the library today. It's in a pile on my desk. I was lamenting that there is a mountain of library journals to plow through and those must take priority until 6 pm after which my reading time is my own.

Karen L. Reading Recluse:
Did ya get to the "Reason for God" yet? I just started the other day, but yesterday I had a migraine, which meant no reading :(

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm on chapter two. Sorry about the migraine. Hope you're feeling better today.

message 12: by Karen L. (new)

Karen L. I feel much better today. Thank you for the kind wish. I am glad to have company reading "The Reason for God."

message 13: by Karen L. (new)

Karen L. Reading Recluse, and any that read, "The Reason For God," I started a discussion topic on that book. It is the best book I've read for skeptics.

Karen L. Hope everyone is having a great summer. I miss discussing books! My summer has been much too busy for my liking. Lots of running the kids here and there, taking mom to doctors appointments and cleaning much too much. I am looking forward to a getaway in early August, where I hope to sit by the lake and read...ah peace and quiet and a good book :)

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Hang in there, Karen, it's almost August!

Has anyone read anything by A. W. Tozer?

message 16: by Karen L. (new)

Karen L. I haven't read any Tozer, but we have some of his books on one of our book shelves. Are you thinking of reading him? My husband enjoyed his writing.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes. I read he's an evangelical who was grounded in writings of the saints and church fathers and mothers. Sounds like an interesting perspective. It looks like the two classics are The Pursuit of God and Knowledge of the Holy.

message 18: by Karen L. (new)

Karen L. Hi Reading Recluse, If you start reading either Tozer book, maybe you could start a discussion thread for others who have read Tozer, or who want to read him, to discuss his writing. I'd be willing to read Tozer and join you in any discussion.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Just got the two above-mentioned titles. Would you like to read one of these? If so, which do you want to do first?

message 20: by Karen L. (new)

Karen L. Sure, How about The Pursuit of God? I just pulled it off the shelf. I'll start a new thread for discussing it, that way if anyone else wants to join in they can. It is a good short read for summer-only 128 pages.

Karen L. A friend who works for a Christian mission agency in the U.K. sent this link to a speech by Geert Wilders to me. As an Anglican group, or a group that enjoys much history in the church; I think this article will stir us to savor the history, culture and freedoms molded by the Christianity that we share. Enjoy. Any thoughts?

Skylar Burris (skylarburris) | 134 comments I just glanced at the article, but if this interested you, Karen, you should really read Bruce Bawer's While Europe Slept and/or Mark Steyn's America Alone.

message 23: by Karen L. (new)

Karen L. I have that book, While Europe Slept on my to read list. I think I will bump it up to more of a priority spot on my list. Thanks for that reminder about that book Skylar!
