The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold is being turned into a movie. Have you read the book and how did you feel about it? How do you feel about the book being turned into a movie? Have you seen the movie?

No i haven't read the book yet, but i have it. I think its a good idea to make the book a movie. And i haven't seen the movie..... yet.
I've read the book and really enjoyed it. I did find that it slowed down around the middle and I got a little bored with it, but it did pick back up again. As for the movie, I have not yet seen it, but have heard that it doesn't even compair to the book. I think that they probably would have had to take out dome things and might not be able to express all the emotions in the book through a movie.
I enjoyed the book. I read it last year. The ending upset me but after awhile I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was different and that helped make the book. For me.
The name alone sounds interesting to me. But I just have to ask: Does it have anything to do with bones? :)
In a way it does, in reference to the dead.
I thought this was a very good book. I even got a little emotional at the end of it because it was sad and at the same time it was a happy ending, she - the girl ended up in heaven looking down at her loved ones in the end. I haven't seen the movie but I hope to get to see it. I hope the movie is good.
Once you get a chance to watch the movie let us know what you thought of it. I'm a little weary about it. The previews looked creepy in a weird way.
Oh my...I wanted to go see the movie (cause Mark W. is gorgeous and it was an Oprah's Book Club book a while back (I think))..so I downloaded a preview via arnes and Noble Reader and read the first chapter or two....it was very entrhalling and addictive...but also extremely sad...I don't know now if I can read the book or watch the movie..it's like I want to because it was quite addictive but I think I may end up crying through the entirety of it!
I read the book when it first came out, I really loved it, the movie, not so much......I in general almost always like the books over the movie. I say book then movie (but wait until you can get it at home, save the money).

What happened to that girl in the book is awful and sad but I think what the sadest/happiest part in the book was at the end when she is with her grandmother (I believe it was her grandmother, its been over 4 years since I read the book but I know it was a family member)in heaven and just that mental picture brought tears to my eyes because knowing that she was in heaven with a love one got to me - it was sad however when she looks down onto earth to see her family but all in all the whole story was written well.
I also agree that it was a sad book. It was so well written it was a good book that you will remember after you read it. To me it was like KiteRunner. So sad but so well written it was well worth the tears. I would give it a try. The ending was beautiful like Ronda said.
It was a very good book but sad. I don't think that I am going to watch the movie. Too sad - maybe because I am the mother of a teenage daughter.
I thought the book was alright, though it's definitely not one of my favorites. I'm not planning on seeing the movie either.
It has been a really long time since I have read the book, but I remember crying... a lot. I did tear up a couple times while watching the movie too, but not near as much as when I read the book. Of course, I cried when I saw Finding Nemo so I'm not sure if my tears can be taken seriously.
i read the book because i read "lucky" by alice sebold when i found it on a new release shelf at the library. when the lovely bones came out, i remembered her name and read it too. Luckyi believe i really enjoyed the book as i remember being particularly moved by the intepretation of sebold's heaven.
my husband got the movie on netflix for me and we attempted to watch it, but made it only about an hour in. i felt it was too long and just a bit too romanticized. i was interested in jackson's portrayal of the book as he did such a great job with the lord of the rings trilogy.
a bit disappointing.
I liked both movie and book. They weren'y my favs by all means but were definitely good. I saw the movie first and really liked it and I think I am glad I watched the movie first too so that I didn't have any expectations of the movie.
I would do that, but I love reading the books too much and I don't want to read if I already know what is going to happen in the book.
I'm still hesitant about watching the movie. Maybe one day I will carve out some time to watch it.
