I did try to read out of my usual genre and that is romance books. The genre that was my challenge was a mystery novel known as The Lovely Bones. Did not like the sadness of the book and gave it only I think two to three stars.
Right now I'm reading
. A non fiction memoir. I am not a fan of memoirs but this book is actually good. I laughed out loud several times.

I am going to read The Count of Monte Cristo as soon as it comes from the library. I don't, for the most part, like classics. I am hoping to change that now that I am reading one that everyone seems to like.
Let us know how the read is for you.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is fabulous - it's the first of a trilogy though, last one is due out in May. I was bummed when I figured that out. Hmmm, the only books I don't really read are romances, and it's not that I haven't read any. I'll have to think about this one a bit. I kind of read everything.
I started the year with the thought of reading more Western novels. I love the history of western world...but rarely do/did I read western books. I have read a few and they are ok, but I find myself looking at my "normal" - horror - which I have been away from for a while but really feel a draw back recently.
Westerns to Horror. That is quit a difference.
I live in North Dakota - when I went to Amazon I could pre-order the third. I know the author was from Europe and died shortly after sending the manuscripts to the publisher...guess they are dragging out the US publication? Western is a genre I haven't read much in at all. My grandpa loved them, I'm not sure what happened to all his books...
i think i will challenge myself with more science fiction or thrillers. i tend to stay away from these titles. i did read a great sci-fi book called the unit. it is really a book about the future of the world. an interesting take on what is to happen to people.
The unit sounds good. Hunger games is a great recommendation.
Indeed it is because many people have recommend it to me but I haven't had the time to read them. They have also recommended to me the Maximum Ride series.
