An entire year? This is definitely the bad and the ugly part I'm talking about! If you're stuck in trying to start that book for the sixth time :O), can I ask you something? Do you have characters that are clear in your mind? How about writing a bio page for a few of them?
How about an Ideas Page where you write the name of the main character and underneath it list all the things that they could be dealing with in their life? List all the possibilities then keep asking yourself, what else? Who comes into their life? What is their motivation to do what they do?
But then again, if you're talking about non-fiction, then that's a different ball game. At any rate, I'm cheering you on!

Revising. My first draft sucked. Therefore, it's going though critical revising.About being emotionally attached to characters I think I've done that with one character. She's kinda hogging the spotlight ^-^
I finished book 2 of my series some years back, but I had another story in process that wouldn't let me write anything else until I had it done. Then I had to start two new jobs in one year, and lost all that time. I finally finished the damn thing, pushing to get it done, and then, two weeks later, I realized what the story was really about and had to rewrite everything i'd just done. Fortunately I had a number of contests and other things which got me going with short stories, to fill in the time. Now I'm finally getting started on my sequel!
