Just started reading this one. Feels a bit depressing right from the prologue. One thing that bugs me though: John is referred to as Col Sheppard everywhere, at least throughout the first 30 pages that I've read....
It's Lt Col (although they're referred to as Col at times) but their rank insignia aren't the wings, it's the silver clover leaf; the bird/wings is for full Colonel, which Sheppard isn't. But when he resigns in the prologue, he puts the wings down on Weir's desk on page 11 of the book... did the author mess up or there's an explanation for this later on in the book... hmmm

Rodney's being portrayed as overly obnoxious in this one. almost every thing he says is a snipe, gripe, whine, etc at someone.
