Apparently I have scared everyone away?

Steven (stevenschend) | 3 comments Very good mood setting piece; I'm looking at setting up my first trailer soon (for a September release book). Which program(s) did you use to create this trailer?

Thanks guys. I used iMovies on my Mac. The picture quality is a bit poor on youtube, but that's partly because the video file is small. This was the first time I had used the program or even made a trailer, not to mention I have all of $10 and 2 hours invested in it, so I'm pretty happy.

Harry Shannon | 1 comments Might work better if the thunder and rain continued all the way through rather than cut in and out. Good job!

Here's mine

A friend made it because I'm an idiot at such things, but he's a film maker so it works well.

Pretty damn good Harry! Just curious how much did that cost to produce? Mine was $10, so I'm am happy with what I spent. Now, the trailer I'd really like to make... ;-) .

JHHK JHHK | 5 comments I created my book trailer on a Mac too.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=MVI68-iqE0Q

Made it for free, in twenty minutes, and it has already gotten over 7000 views...

message 8: by Sean (new)

Sean (svlehosit) How long did it take to get that many views?

message 9: by Nasbly (new)

Nasbly Kalinina (nasblykalinina) | 9 comments There are good, but I don´t like horror films. On James´my heart was beating faster with those sounds and on the Jhhk´s that awful face made me sick!

I image that make people feel that sense of fear is the whole point, so you are going on the right way...

message 10: by Nasbly (new)

Nasbly Kalinina (nasblykalinina) | 9 comments I was wonder What make people write/read horror? My country is quite unsafe. I go out and I don´t know if I would come back. The hight percentage of crime and cars crash make me feel on that way; some times I can not sleep, thinking that a burglar might break into my house (ones they did, when I was a child, it was very scary!)So, why watch a film that make me feel worst, when I can wath many others that would help me to relax and forget for a moment all my fears?.

Many people feel as unsafe as me and still wath/read horror, can anyone help me to undertand why, please?

message 11: by Sean (new)

Sean (svlehosit) My book falls under the horror genre even though it's grounded in religous mythology. I would say, at least for myself, that I write horror not as a way to scare people or bask in it, but to identify lifes fears and overcome them.

M.L. Bushman | 144 comments Well, I'm new here, but I've made four of these trailers so far.

Here's my third:

This one's my fourth:

My first two are on YouTube as well. I did them all with a little program from Serif called Movie Plus 5. Didn't cost me any more than about fifty bucks.

I see why your video has had over 7000 views.

It's hilarious.

Dylan (dmfriend26) | 12 comments These look like very cool books everyone. Daemon looks like my kind of book though. I love horror. I also like The Eye of the storm, and The Implausible hero. Good job everyone.

Melissa (melissacwalker) | 5 comments Great trailers, everyone! I know there's discussion about whether book trailers help sell books, but either way, they are FUN. And more people seeing your cover and having your book in mind can't hurt!

I had a contest on my blog to do a tribute to my Violet series, and some readers acted out a few scenes as a book trailer:

The sound is off in parts, but the makeover scene i just love!

Lil (lilmar) | 4 comments I've seen some great trailers, both here and all over the web. I am blowing my own horn here, but I also make trailers and i don't charge nearly what the big companies do to make one. My biggest caveat? I HAVE to read the book first. A synopsis just does not do it for me. Some of my work can be seen on YouTube under Whispers Publishing. I wear several hats for them and recently took up making trailers as a side project. I started out with a small program called Photostory, from Microsoft but have recently made the jump to Movie Maker. I'm not a professional yet, but my authors have been happy with what I have done for them.
