Hannah (ophelia17) | 67 comments I almost need music when i write. does anyone else? can anyone not stand noise when writing?

i get too distracted by music. music is my passion after writing, so i always get really into it when i listen to music, and i start singing and dancing around. lol. so i can't concentrate on both at the same time.

message 3: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Same. If the music has words, and I know the song, then I'll start singing, and i won't be able to focus on my writing. But if the music doesn't have any words (if it's just an instrumental) then I'm okay.

message 4: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
i guess... but i don't listen to a lot of instrumental music. i like words; i feel like it gives a song more meaning or something. idk.

message 5: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
I agree- the lyrics really give it more meaning. But sometimes, it's pretty just to listen to the melody for some songs. I have this CD of this guy who played a few beatles songs, but without the lyrics, and it sounds really pretty. And jazz music without lyrics does too.

Xerxes Break(Vivian Ephona) (ephona) I usually don't write to music but something I like to do, called Musical Inspiration, is really fun! I just listen to a song and write a short thing pertaining to how I feel in the song, usually with my characters.

Thats kinda cool. I've never done that before, but then again, I don't get any emotional reaction to music or anything.

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
that sounds really embarrasing. btw, I have been wondering for a long time what o.o means. I get that is is a face, but I don't really get what it represents. Could somebody tell me?

message 9: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
it's like a surprised face with big eyes and a little mouth going "oooooh". lol.

message 10: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
It's a wide-eyed surprised face .:D That sounds embarrasaing, Tori!!

message 11: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Sometimes I'll accidentally put the song lyrics into my writing. Then I'll have to go back and erase it.

message 12: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Haha. Lol.

message 13: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
haha. sometimes i'll do that too, and i'll be like, "why does that sound so familiar? hmmm..." and then the song will pop into my head, and i'll be like, "oh... whoops." lol.

message 14: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Lol. I did what you do sometimes just today, Brigid...our science teacher was giving a boring lecture in class today, and I decided to work on a story, since he was sort of in his own little world. I started writing "We have to go save them" But I paused after save, and then one of my friends said "Can you go get me a textbook?" (speaking to someone else). When I had glanced done, I realized I had written "We have to go save a textbook!"

message 15: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
LOL. i would never save a textbook. i would just let it die. lol. :D

message 16: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
Haha, me too!

message 17: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments
Well, it is a book...But not all books are worth saving, so KILL THE TEXTBOOK!!!

message 18: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Same here! In fact, I would actually purposefully kill a textbook if I could.

message 19: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Wow, that's really funny, Kenzie! We posted at the same time!! :D

message 20: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Telepathy, I tell you. Hey, Veronica, telepathy! Had enough of that, haven't we? -winks at Roni-

message 21: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
Yes! did you see what I said in the get to know your cahracter game?

message 22: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Yep! And I replied. My characters finally got to sleep...Do you know how hard it is to catch some shut-eye with those two always arguing? Man, they can be tiresome. At least their not touchy-feely like Rainy's, their not continuously smooching - not that they haven't done that just to annoy me...

message 23: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
LOL. You're right. At least they aren't like rainy's characters! Imagine if nathan fell in love with you! That would be messier than Svell!

message 24: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments No, we're just friends. And if we did, it wouldn't last long. Joan has death in her eyes for anyone who even thinks of hitting on Nathan. So Kassy's character is lucky that she's in another story...

message 25: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
Definitly. Lets hope Joan and Maria never meet face to face.

message 26: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments They can't. Nathan would be in the back room with Joan holding her back while I shooed Maria. Now if Nathan met Maria, he'd probably run 'cause he doesn't want any trouble with Joan, and you know why. (Don't tell her I said this.)

message 27: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
I won't ;)

message 28: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Phew! -wipes sweat off of forehead- If you did I'd have to start writing my will.

message 29: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Here's what I got so far:

Veronica: my writing (finish them in your own spunky way) some books
Rainy: My notebooks (who knows? you could use something from them) some books
Kassy: My James Patterson book (you have to read it!) some other books
Sella: I'll send you some of my books.
Brigid: I'll send you some of my books.

message 30: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Couldn't think of what you guys would want of mine, so I decided on books.

message 31: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
I would have to start writing my will too, because I don't think Joan would accept the line "Don't hurt the messenger!"

message 32: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
LOL!!!!

message 33: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments No, but Nathan would be good to have on your side. He's the only one that can control her. Wait 'til you here what I have planned when Joan meets her father again...

message 34: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
But I don't want to wait to hear! I want to hear now! (joking, kinda, I can wait, but I don't want to! It's really really good!)

message 35: by Kenzie (last edited May 14, 2008 05:53PM) (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Sella, we did it again. And Roni, if you want I can tell you at school tomorrow. You'll have to remind me, though, 'cause, remember, I'm very absentminded. Now, what were you asking?

Just kidding!

message 36: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Wow. Wait...that's not fair!! I wanna hear too!!

message 37: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
This is getting confusing (although Kenzie's will is funny)

message 38: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Hold on, I'll send it to you.

message 39: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Who me? Yay!

message 40: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Yep, just did. Okay, gotta go. Bye! Enjoy, it's not very long, it's just the overview.

message 46: by Tate (new)

Tate | 106 comments I am a sucker for happy music. Like... "No Rain" by Blind Melon (I am listening to it right now... =D) "Boy's Don't Cry" by The Cure, "Istanbul Not Constantinople..." and I have a lot of eighties songs . . . ah well!" YAy!
But it helps, especially when I have headphones, it puts in me in my own world, entirely, wahooo!

message 47: by adi (new)

adi (restartaugust) | 125 comments I make playlists. I have one for Slip right now that i listen to on repeat :D
It's got AFI, Blue October, Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie, Flobots, the Fray, Linkin Park, Muse, My Chem, NIN, Radiohead, Snow Patrol... And others :D

message 48: by Silvia (new)

Silvia (robin10hood) haha tate, i love eighties music too even though i didnt grow up with them. and istanbul is just about the best thing ever. only since my mp3 player if filled with sesame street songs, if i wanna listen to a song on impulse i must first learn the song and then sing it to myself. it works nicely, but is hugely embarrassing when people hear you..lol.

message 49: by Tate (new)

Tate | 106 comments I didn't grow up in the eighties either, wahoo! Yay!!

That's good, because normally when I post my musical tastes . . . nobody shares them, wah!

message 50: by Hannah (new)
