i get too distracted by music. music is my passion after writing, so i always get really into it when i listen to music, and i start singing and dancing around. lol. so i can't concentrate on both at the same time.
Same. If the music has words, and I know the song, then I'll start singing, and i won't be able to focus on my writing. But if the music doesn't have any words (if it's just an instrumental) then I'm okay.
i guess... but i don't listen to a lot of instrumental music. i like words; i feel like it gives a song more meaning or something. idk.
I agree- the lyrics really give it more meaning. But sometimes, it's pretty just to listen to the melody for some songs. I have this CD of this guy who played a few beatles songs, but without the lyrics, and it sounds really pretty. And jazz music without lyrics does too.
I usually don't write to music but something I like to do, called Musical Inspiration, is really fun! I just listen to a song and write a short thing pertaining to how I feel in the song, usually with my characters.
Thats kinda cool. I've never done that before, but then again, I don't get any emotional reaction to music or anything.
that sounds really embarrasing. btw, I have been wondering for a long time what o.o means. I get that is is a face, but I don't really get what it represents. Could somebody tell me?
Sometimes I'll accidentally put the song lyrics into my writing. Then I'll have to go back and erase it.
haha. sometimes i'll do that too, and i'll be like, "why does that sound so familiar? hmmm..." and then the song will pop into my head, and i'll be like, "oh... whoops." lol.
Lol. I did what you do sometimes just today, Brigid...our science teacher was giving a boring lecture in class today, and I decided to work on a story, since he was sort of in his own little world. I started writing "We have to go save them" But I paused after save, and then one of my friends said "Can you go get me a textbook?" (speaking to someone else). When I had glanced done, I realized I had written "We have to go save a textbook!"
Yep! And I replied. My characters finally got to sleep...Do you know how hard it is to catch some shut-eye with those two always arguing? Man, they can be tiresome. At least their not touchy-feely like Rainy's, their not continuously smooching - not that they haven't done that just to annoy me...
LOL. You're right. At least they aren't like rainy's characters! Imagine if nathan fell in love with you! That would be messier than Svell!
No, we're just friends. And if we did, it wouldn't last long. Joan has death in her eyes for anyone who even thinks of hitting on Nathan. So Kassy's character is lucky that she's in another story...
They can't. Nathan would be in the back room with Joan holding her back while I shooed Maria. Now if Nathan met Maria, he'd probably run 'cause he doesn't want any trouble with Joan, and you know why. (Don't tell her I said this.)
Here's what I got so far:Veronica: my writing (finish them in your own spunky way) some books
Rainy: My notebooks (who knows? you could use something from them) some books
Kassy: My James Patterson book (you have to read it!) some other books
Sella: I'll send you some of my books.
Brigid: I'll send you some of my books.
I would have to start writing my will too, because I don't think Joan would accept the line "Don't hurt the messenger!"
No, but Nathan would be good to have on your side. He's the only one that can control her. Wait 'til you here what I have planned when Joan meets her father again...
But I don't want to wait to hear! I want to hear now! (joking, kinda, I can wait, but I don't want to! It's really really good!)
Sella, we did it again. And Roni, if you want I can tell you at school tomorrow. You'll have to remind me, though, 'cause, remember, I'm very absentminded. Now, what were you asking? Just kidding!
if i dont have music(it has to be good music) when i write everything that i do write is crud.
i need music :]i usally listen to realyl dark stuff, because it helps my writing be moe visual.
like radiohead, regina spektor, damien rice, flobots...
haha i'm glad you like my suicidal characters laura XD of course soul stealer is really different from anything i've ever written... my characters have never been that suicidal. :p heeheehee
I am a sucker for happy music. Like... "No Rain" by Blind Melon (I am listening to it right now... =D) "Boy's Don't Cry" by The Cure, "Istanbul Not Constantinople..." and I have a lot of eighties songs . . . ah well!" YAy!But it helps, especially when I have headphones, it puts in me in my own world, entirely, wahooo!
I make playlists. I have one for Slip right now that i listen to on repeat :DIt's got AFI, Blue October, Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie, Flobots, the Fray, Linkin Park, Muse, My Chem, NIN, Radiohead, Snow Patrol... And others :D
haha tate, i love eighties music too even though i didnt grow up with them. and istanbul is just about the best thing ever. only since my mp3 player if filled with sesame street songs, if i wanna listen to a song on impulse i must first learn the song and then sing it to myself. it works nicely, but is hugely embarrassing when people hear you..lol.
I didn't grow up in the eighties either, wahoo! Yay!! That's good, because normally when I post my musical tastes . . . nobody shares them, wah!
