She's packed a lot into the front half of the book. I can't wait to see where it goes. I also have Celia Garth sitting on my pile and I definitely will be reading Jubilee Trail. All three of those have been re-released, so they're easy to get.

Many of California's gold rush towns (as well as the history) are still there and really an interesting place to visit. Some pretty good wineries back there as well as a haunted B&B or two :)

She also has written what's referred to as the "Plantation Trilogy" centered around Louisiana from the first colonization through WW1. Don't let the prices scare you, you can find them via interlibrary loan.
I've not read Tomorrow is Forever but I believe it's set during WWII. There's one she wrote called Golden Dreams but it is NF about California leading up to the Gold Rush
