Highlander Romance discussion
What are you reading??
Currently I'm not reading a Highland book but the hero is Scottish at least the orphanage where he was dropped off without a note figured he was based on his hair color so they named him accordingly. The book takes place mainly in Texas.
its good but definitely not a page turner.Oh, the hair color of the cover hero is wrong the book itself repeatedly refers to his red hair.
That always bothers me...when the people on the covers looks NOTHING like they describe them in the books. Gah!
I just finished
. Loved the book and looking forward to reading
! Have to wait for the money so that I can order it on my Kindle as my library doesn't have it. :( Great first book of a series though! :D
I just bought
! Can't wait to read this. And I am working on Hannah Howell's Highland Captive. Which is really good. It reminds me of a Julie Garwood book for some reason and I love Julie Garwoods highland novels. I just read Lindsay Sands Taming the Highland Bride and The Hellion and the Highlander I think The Hellion was way better, but both are good.

The book that got me "hooked on Highlanders" was Hannah Howell's "Highland Captive." I bought all of Hannah's books...ok most of them and Monica McCarty's as well. I loved how strong, funny and resourceful Aimil is. Parlan is my dream guy.
I am launching a new online site dedicated to romance novels. I plan on having a section called, "Hooked of Highlander" because it's my favorite genre. (I love those strong female characters.) Please, please, if you come across a new Highlander book, let me know. (carolyn@romancenovelnews.com)

The book that got me "hooked on Highlande..."
I just read that book!! haha and it was great, btw. I will definately check out "Devil of the highlands" Thanks for the info.
Currently reading

. There's nothing like a good man in a kilt :) I also have recently read
and enjoyed all of the them. Did any one like
? I almost bought it but have so far resisted....probably not for much longer though! lol
Megan aka *Mheghan* wrote: "? I almost bought it but have so far resisted....probably not for much longer though! lol ..."Hey Mhegs...me again. haha. I just started it and am about halfway through it. It's kinda slow going and not my fave right now. I heard such good reviews on it, too. But Idk...only about halfway so maybe it gets better.

It's the first series in, what is sounding like it will be, an epic group of books so they have to lay down the plot and you get a little bit of dragging while they're explaining some of the history but it's well worth it! :)
I finished The Wedding last night and loved it. Is it just me, or does anyone think there should be a 3rd "Lairds' Fiancees" in this series about her younger sister and Conner's friend (I can't think of his name at the moment)? I feel like it ended w/ a set up for the next book. Is there another book??
Megan aka *Mheghan* wrote: "I finished The Wedding last night and loved it. Ok...Courtney, I have finally made myself read the rest of The Chief and I really didn't like it that much. I like the idea of the story and the premises and all that. But the freaking heroine was soooo whiny and almost immature. The hero wasn't that much better either. It's a neat story and a great setup I think for future books, but I disliked these two. They got on my nerves like my two boys. I seriously felt the need to smack them both in the back of the head and to yell at them to just stop. Anyways...Mehgs...my opinioin would be to read more Julie Garwood first, then if you run out of things to read, try The Chief. and Johanna Lyndsey if no one has recommended her to you.
Defy Not the Heart is really funny and sweet. However, a lot of JL book's are boddice rippers and not easy to stomach, so I would definately check w/others before reading any of her books.
Jesslynn wrote: "Megan aka *Mheghan* wrote: "I finished The Wedding last night and loved it. Captive Bride, Paradise Wild and a few others didn't sit well with me personally. But she wrote a bunch that I do like tremendously. Prisoner of my Desire is one I liked but has a lot of controversy because there is rape involved. But her Malory Series (especially her first 3 books) are really good and also Once a Princess and her westerns and her vikings... :)
I actually picked upMarriage Most Scandalous last night at the library. I have never read anything by her and wasn't sure where to start. I also picked up The Secret. I wish she (Julie Garwood) would write another book after The Bride and The Wedding. I was just becoming attached to the characters! *sigh*

Fires of Winter. But the next two in that series were great. Can't remember the names. I like the earlier Mallory books, but these latest seem kinda blah. I thought
was good, too, Mhegs. It's about a Scottish man inheriting in England. Good story.

I LOVE Monica McCarty and maybe I just shoved the bad stuff out of my mind because I didn't want to let it bother me and I didn't want to NOT like one of her books ya know? ;)

No worries. Always protect what you love! LOL
I LOVE Monica McCarty! The Campbell trilogy last year is one of my favorites, but the newest release The Chief was amazing! I'm not a huge Lynsay Sands fan...I liked Devil of the Highlands, but some of her other historicals weren't to my taste. Karen Marie Moning has some great Highlanders too :)

!!! Yay!"Yay! I told my sis i would come over today to pick up her copy, but It was so pretty outside, me and my son, Jake, and the dogs went walking and ended up in the creek playing fovever. Ooopsee.
I'll go see my sis tomorrow!
So, I started
and I'm having a hard time with the third person omniscient writing POV. :( I LOVE the characters and they are already starting to like each other and I'm excited for the rest of the book but the POV just throws me off every once in a while. *shrug* Anyone else have this issue?

I've just gotten so use to the 1st person writing or even regular third person that it was kind of a shock to switch around that much and to automatically know what everyone was thinking! I LOVE the story though! :D

Thanks, Courtney! I've heard that the others are better, and I understand the difficulty of the first book in a series, so I'm going to keep going and hope for the best!
