Anony-miss a-non-y-miss | 4 comments Yeah. I *gasp* used to me a fan (regret it now). Not everything vampire is "goth" -- if I have to hear the name "edward cullen," I think I'll scream.

Anony-miss a-non-y-miss | 4 comments Yup. At least it motivates people to read .. :)

Spooky (spooky_sez) I'd hope that the Twilight horror would steer teens into the cool literary vampires, but have you all noticed the explosion of shitty vampire series' since Twilight became big? They're everywhere!
I was excited at first. Who wouldn't be with a million vampire novels to chose from? But then I read the blurbs and they all sound the same- this teenage girl is a vampire/her boyfriend is a vampire/her schoolmates are vampires. Blah blah blah.
Anne Rice can't spell for shit, but at least Lestat is a great character.

Anony-miss a-non-y-miss | 4 comments Mmmhmmm .. same motifs everywhere. I betcha I could write my own -- THRISTY debuted by Tenebris In Lux. All I need now if an "exciting plot-line" with "sexy" vampire guys.

Wonder what will be popular in the market a few years from now .. *shudders*

Sigrid N. (wilddeathflowertrance) | 1 comments hahahahaha... All I had to see was this topic listed for this to be the first group I joined on Goodreads.

ANd Blue, I follow Clint Catalyst on Twitter and he made a comment about Twilight & Count Chocula ,too. It was a while back but 1. he refers to Edward Cullen as "The Glitter Critter," which makes me want to follow him 2 x if I could! & 2. Clint said something to the effect of Count Chocula being more of a vampire than The Glitter Critter (because The Count doesn't "Glitter")

OK, maybe I kind of ruined that one. But also when he was tweeting against "Twi-hards" (his term, tho I stole it) he said "The thing is: vampires who don't suck? REALLY suck" & also "I need something sharper in my life than fake fangs."

Sorry to come off all ~*FAN GIRL*~
It's just I love knowing I'm not the only person who doesn't WANT Goth to be "socially acceptable." I hate that watered-down Hot Topic version... It's like, do those perky Goths even know what the original meaning of the word is?! BARBARIC.

Twilight is about as Barbaric as a Hallmark card...and the film version is "vampire lite" with a closeted lesbian female lead and a Mormon white-wash.

Yes, reading is good...but I vote for a bit more than Us Weekly in book form. (or Flowers in the Attic!)

ember (emberrayne) ok seeing is how i am a twilight hatter i must put my to scence the only reason that book is so popular is because it has a above life guy who falls for this boring girl most girls see themselves in that way i mean you don't even get a good description of her and you see Edwards beautiful gorgeous face like on every other freaking page. now you could make Edward turn into a sheep and people would still be in love with him i dont even consider them vampires one they do not sparkle 2 vampires cant live on animal blood loses the point they are cursed beings the undead that live on the blood of humans 3 coffin they cant not have a coffin 4 sun no sun for peats sakes there damned beings now they are just indestructible pixies who like to suck on dear guts

Spooky (spooky_sez) Haha, Glitter Critter!
I was told Being Human was quite good. Downloading now.

I agree, Sinnyo- there are no specific rules for what makes a vampire. I love reading different authors' takes on the vampire, their own mythology.
